Poor value for perfermonace

I splurged to buy these and was swindled by the hype. I've had Costa, Serengeti, Smith, and I feel that these were the biggest disappointment for the price. The grey lenses on the Alenuihaha frames are just terrible. Looking through them, they always appear cloudy and the actual clarity is poor. I've spent too much time cleaning the lenses and they never appear clear. Not a scratch on these as well as I take the utmost care with my specs. Likewise, the frames feel very cheap. I really think Maui Jim's name is not synonymous with quality as it may have been years ago. Never should have pulled the trigger on these. Back to Serengetis.

The quality is excellent and they're nice looking, too. The large, wrap-around frames give full coverage against the sun, from side-to-side and top-to-bottom. They're super light weight, but sturdy, and the rubber nose pads keep them in place. They're so light you'll forget you're wearing them. Maui Jim has excellent customer care and refurbishing programs to renew your sunglasses after many years of use. But the best reason to buy Maui Jim sunglasses is that the view looking through Maui Jim lenses is amazing. Well done!

New Eyes!

I just had cataract surgery and can now discard my MJ's Rx's and it gave me an excuse to update with these spectaculars! Everything is brighter with these, yet tempered with my new found light sensitivities. I have a very large melon and these fit comfortably and the Blue Hawaii coating is stylish and crisp with the matching classy blue striped frames. Once again a Maui Jim's home run, on all accounts, to pair with my new eyes!

So close!

I had high hopes for these since I've been dying for the Makoa but with glass Hawaii Lava lenses. The lenses are awesome but I just don't like the frames unfortunately. The main thing I don't like is the hinges because when you fold in the arms the plastic rubs together and makes noise which makes them seem cheaper than they are. I like the hinges on the Makoa and Cruzem much better. The other two issues are more minor and would probably fade away after some time but I don't like the translucent red in the frame because it glows when the sun hits it and I can see it. I also don't like that the arms touch my temples. So I have returned these because I like the Makoa and Cruzem better.

Cost saving measures

I placed an order for these the other day and I'm sure the sunglasses will be great. I have about five pair of Maui Jim's currently and have had many more over the years. The problem is the company's gone cheap and is sending these paperish trifold cases instead of the high quality sports cases they sent for the last 10 years. While I'm sure it saves money they aren't nearly as protective or durable. My last purchase was for a pair of Costa Del Mar which still comes with the high quality case. They also have lightweight glass lenses so it looks like I need to make the jump and brand loyalty.

Solid frames, weak lens

Second pair of Maui Jim’s. These fit my big head well and the frames are durable and comfortable. Only complaint is the lens cracked into the lines down the middle. Never seen anything like it. Potentially the product of the “SuperThin Glass” lens.

Awesome but not scratch resistant

I’ve been a Maui Jim’s client for years and have always been a fan. Only complaint I would have about them is that their lenses scare very easily! Otherwise they are the best sunglasses out there!

Great fit and lightweight. Good looking and stylish. Feels like not wearing glasses at all. Great for Hawaiian sunshine and polarized lens makes it easy to see fish while throwing fish nets

Great and lightweight

Female here - bought these as a replacement for my 9 year old peahi . Love these. They are much lighter and I LOVE the blue lenses. Peahi were so heavy . I’m so pleased with my purchase.

Alenuihaha was a pleasant surprise when I realized how much they do wrap! Make sure your cheeks are too big as when you smile they climb jo your face.
