Wildly inaccurate- Returning
Heart rate swings 20-30 bpm while sitting on the couch or walking through the house…. Saying 90bpm right now as I write this review? My measured resting heart rate is about 52…..After walking the dog, step count is off over a thousand steps compared to my iphone (which I trust more). Display is weak and laggy the majority of the time and it only uses about 70% off the total face surface. Sleep tracked was only 1:47 my first night? This is my first “fitness” wearable so maybe this is par for the course and these devices are just a marketing scheme. I’ll give it another day or two before I return. Thank goodness for REI’s solid return policy
Simple yet powerful all around watch
This watch lacks complexity of Garmin but it is a perfect all-around watch to measure and track the health data, use the gps etc and receive all notifications from the phone. Battery life is amazing. Synchronisation with the phone is implemented better than on Garmins. Same thing with charger. The only weakness is the screen, seems outdated. Not as powerful as Fenix but half the price.
9 Peak: Unreliable Readings
I’ve had the 9 Peak for 9 months. Its GPS readings appear accurate. Sometimes the heart rate readings are accurate & sometimes it will suddenly go through the roof (160+). I take it off for a minute. When I put it back on, the reading goes down to 78-80 bpm (where it should be). It’s treadmill distance is completely wrong (less than 1/2 the distance traveled). I worked with Suunto’s tech support for weeks, but their recommendations did not correct the issue & they gave up trying to fix it. I almost never write reviews, but I’m very disappointed with the inaccuracies of this (not cheap) product & will never buy Suunto again.
Great Watch built tough
Very easy to use. I like the information and feedback you get after a workout. It’s nice you can download the information from the watch to the Suunto app on your phone, on the fly, out in the backcountry. It appears to be a very solid piece of equipment. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the wrist based heart rate sensor is not accurate when I’m on a run and shows my heart rate really elevated. I use a Polar chest strap (that is highly accurate) that Bluetooths to the watch for my heart rate readings.
never accurate
from elevation, to barometer, storm warning, heart rate, blod ox. I apparently live in Atlantis because the watch is always some where near -40 feet. the storm warning has only come on in beautiful conditions with no chance of storms, when I have been caught by storms the watch says nothing. it always assumes your heart rate is 90 to 120 all the time. at the end of the day the glitches and lack of accuracy have made me look for another watch. highly disappointed.
Basics are lacking.
I purchased this watch to replace an Apple watch that was a few years old and on the fritz. I was excited about the multi-sport capacity, the really long battery life (a sad shortcoming in the Apple watch), and minimal design. I ended up returning it. While the watch has a low-profile face, it was the buckle/strap that I had trouble with catching on everything. The super long battery life was as nice as I suspected, but some of the other basic features didn't work very well. For example, I set the watch alarm to go off in the night to wake me up, and it was so quiet it alarmed for like 10 minutes before I finally realized it was going off (and I'm a light sleeper!). All in all, I found it not worth the price.
Looks great AND works great
This watch looks good! Even on my narrow lady-wrist! This is the first sport-watch I've ever owned that I can wear daily, totally love it. I bought this to replace my circa 2014 Suunto Ambit2 that finally died. Mostly wanted to stay with Suunto because the old watch had been so great for so many years, but the fact that this is actually an attractive watch I can wear all the time really sold me. It also works just as well as my previous watch, at least the GPS for tracking runs and hikes is great. Works exactly as expected. I was pleasantly surprised to discover the wrist HR is accurate for me on runs (YMMV based on individual physiology) The sleep tracking is a really interesting feature: check out your sleeping heart rate and get a sense for how restful each night was, are you recovering your energy. It appears to also be able to link with your phone for email and text notifications if you're into that - I'm not, haven't tried it. But really excellent replacement for a beloved sports watch that does all the sports watch things I need.
Terrible technical support
Bought his watch couple of months ago. After one month the charger failed and called the support number. I was told that the charger would arrive in 3 weeks FROM EUROPE!. Three weeks have passed, and no sight of the charger yet.
Not up to par
Hr monitor is not accurate, Home Screen is not customizable, O2 levels take minutes to read. This does not come close to a Fenix 6
Heart Rate Monitor sub par
I wondered why the 9 peak says my condition is poor after 9 weeks of workouts. Started paying closer attention to heart rate, that's the problem. I have moved the watch from left to right wrist and top and bottom of wrist. Checked repeatedly during workouts and heart rate would say 90 and I breathing heavily and drenched in sweat. I moved it around several times and it then showed 155.
