Runs small - buy up at least one size
I just received and tried on these boots. First impression is that they are well made and should do well in snow and bad weather. I like the separate snow collar with its own cord lock to snug around the legs. The laces only tighten with a cord lock - they are permanently threaded through the eyelets. Please note these boots run SMALL. I wear a 9 1/2 in most shoes. Purchase instructions said to buy a size equal to regular footwear. With just a mid-weight hiker sock, I could barely squeeze my feet into the boots. They felt both narrow and short. I will definitely try a larger size, but may need to try 2 sizes up to fit true winter weight socks.
Excellent. At first the insulation may feel tight
I love these boots. When they first arrived, I was a worried because the insulation felt tight around the front of my feet; so tight that I almost sent them back as too small. I'm very glad I didn't. I realized that what I was feeling was not my toes pressing up against the front of the boot liner but rather the liner pushing down against the top of my feet. After wearing them on a couple of walks this feeling has completely gone away and the fit is great. They are even ever so slightly loose in length, which is to be expecting since I usually take a 9 1/2 and so ordered a size 10, since there are no half sizes. If I really care I can lace them up more tightly and any feeling of looseness goes away but I'm usually lazy and just slide my feet in and go. They are very warm and would be serious overkill for someplace where cold and snow are not the norm in the winter, but for cold, snowy places they are great. I could wish they were not so expensive but they appear to be very well built and I hope they will serve me for many years.
Very warm and not overly bulky!
I would give these a 5-star review if I hadn't had a quality issue on my first pair. The top rivet for the shoelace guides failed the second time I wore them. I think this was just bad luck on this particular pair, and I have a replacement pair on the way. If it happens again, I'll certainly lower my rating. I wish they came in half sizes, because I'd probably fit a 10.5 better. My typical shoe size is 9.5 and I got the 10 which is comfortable. I'm hoping they break in a bit and loosen up in the toe box.
Good boots so far, but need to break in the liner
I have had a chance to use these boots a few times in North Dakota and have found that I like them. I mostly use them for snow removal. The soles have good grip on both snow and ice, and are not excessively thick (I'm tall, so I don't need lifts in my boots when using a snowblower). They have been warm so far and keep the snow out. They are very snug when new, but after a while the liner molds to your feet and they feel more normal. I can wear a medium cushion sock in my normal size boots, but extremely thick socks may be a bit much. My only other quibble is the speed lacing. When the laces are tightened, there is a lot of spare lace hanging out, so I tuck it in between the crossed-over laces below. They do snug up enough for me to walk around easily. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the boots as of this point.
Super warm and comfy!
If you are looking for a warm, comfortable boot, your search is over. These fit the bill perfectly.
Fantastic boots
These boots are amazing. Very warm and work great in deep snow, below zero temperatures and work great with snow shoes. They feel light and can also drive my truck without having to change them.
OUTSTANDING BOOTS!!!!
These boots rock! I love that I can change liners and how warm they are. My feet get cold easily and I don’t have that problem with these boots. Well made and very durable.
Probably Warm, But the Fit is Horrible
I really wanted to like these boots, and I was excited when they were delivered. That said, they will be going back. They are really narrow, and they run small. I can only get a thin pair of Smartwool socks in them without them feeling incredibly tight/restricting. Too bad they are not offered in half sizes and additional widths. Additionally, as someone else mentioned, the laces are far too long; when cinched tight, they need to be tucked into the top of the boot to avoid tripping on them. That is an easy fix, but given the sizing issues, I cannot recommend these to anyone.
Fair compromise of work and pac & work boot
Looking for a boot to replace my 20 year old Sorel Conquest which are no longer produced. Traditional pac boots not supportive enough for working for hours in deep snow on steep rocky Vermont hillside. Insulated work boots not warm enough for walking behind snowblower in blowing cold wind and standing around bonfire. These boots a fair compromise. The soles grip on ledge and ice, they are WARM, and support adequate for scaling big rocks and downed trees. The built in top gaiter keeps the snow out. After a few hours or a few miles walking on uneven terrain my feet get sore. Standing in slush a little water weeps through the welt at the junction of the rubber and the leather but wet condtions are not what I bought the boots for. This winter has had repeat episodes of snow/cold and warm/rain which I've never experienced before; there is slush/thin ice in areas that would only be wet for a few weeks in the spring. Hope this isn't a permanent weather change due to global warming.
Very warm, high quality.
These boots are (as the name implies), monsters. They are absolutely massive, and by far the heaviest set of boots ive ever had. I am a size 14 and didnt seem to have an issue with it being uncomfortably tight, but its certainly isn't spacious. they are remarkably warm. No doubt about that.
