Saved us in rainy cold weather
Lucky to have picked this up at the garage sale. Bought it just out of curiosity. Took it to car camp this weekend and it saved us! Drizzly cold weather made a fire a no-go. Everyone was cold. We had a tarp over the picnic table so we were dry there. Put this under the picnic table and it kept us all warm as we played cards into the night. Then after my camp stove malfunctioned due to getting wet, I used this to cook dinner and heat up water for hot chocolate. You can cook and stay warm at the same time! The kids stopped complaining of cold when we brought this out. What’s that you say? It’s on sale? Get it now!
Not hot enough
Have to put your hands right next to it to feel any heat.
It gets used often
Walked into an rei one day looking for heat during outside pandemic hang outs. It gets used often but doesn’t give off much heat. I would recommend getting it if you plan to use it for cooking as well as heat. Otherwise, stick with a pure heating product.
Not bad
It’s a little bit of a challenge when first Using, but it worked well when I first used it in my driveway. Out on the Joshua tree monument it worked but didn’t seem to put out a consistent high heat , it might have been the Santa Anna winds interfering with the output . But I had it in between our camp cots as we slept out underneath the stars in the desert night sky.
Trouble Ahead
When we saw the Ignik cooker/heater we were excited to add to our offroad backcountry gear. Disappointed to report Ignik is unreliable and while pretty, is not functional. Constant problems with attempted ignition lead to bad words but no heat or cooking. Look elsewhere.
