Overall I love this tent. It is quite roomy for a 3 person tent, which I feel is due the vertical design of the side walls. My wife and I fit comfortably along with our 6 year old daughter. It is incredibly light for its size, which was worth the higher price tag for me. I like that it comes standard with a footprint as well. Love the double doors too, which makes it all the more manageable for the 3 of us. I also like the extra width to the doors. My only complaint is the single zipper on the doors. Because the doors are so wide, it takes longer to unzip the door enough to exit. If they had built it with two zippers then you would be able to unzip halfway to exit.
Honestly, this is easily a 4-5 star tent, but it loses at least three stars all based on one unbelievable design decision. The tent comes with massive D shaped doors, all with only one zipper. This means you have to reach way under the vestibule to unzip the tent, and unzip the whole stinking door just to get in. Absolutely abysmal in the rain, pretty much horrible any other time. Perfectly good tent ruined by the unbelievably dumb decision to increase profit margin ten cents on a three hundred dollar tent by removing two zippers. If this tent had two zippers on each door - five stars. As it is, I can't give it more than two for the price.
We got this tent because we were going on a winter camping trip and we had seen reviews that said it held up really well in colder weather for a 3-season tent, which is absolutely true. It got down into the low 20’s a couple nights and poured another night. It kept us dry and warm, although we did use a heater for a few minutes here and there on the colder nights. The fly, footprint, steaks, and poles were awesome. I had set the tent up at home once before leaving to make sure everything was in good shape, which it seemed to be. Then, on our first night camping, one of the clips that attaches to the poles tore the mesh part of the tent. Fortunately, I had patch tape and was able to make it work for the other 3 nights. This may have been a fluke, but it was definitely disappointing to pay $300 for a tent that doesn’t make it through night one. Like I said, it’s a great concept and well-constructed, besides the stitching of the tent itself.
I purchased two 3p tents. Both colors. Vertical walls are a must. Spacious floor and a true 3p design, aided by vertical walls, makes this a very nice tent. Easy up and easy down. Does good in the wind. Our family of 5 fits comfortably in two 3p tents. The ONE down side... the Zippers. Two zippers would make this tent unbeatable. You have to reach under the guy'ed out portion of the fly to reach the, one, zipper. It's a bit of a reach and may require you to put a knee down to reach. These tents are so comfortable we backpack with them. Split the fly's, bodies and poles umogst 5 and we're golden. Coupled with our Tensor pads Kaiu bags we couldn't be more comfortable.
Was pleasantly shocked with the amount of headroom and space, setup is simple as can be as with other Nemo tents, coming with the footprint is an added bonus. For 2 adults and a dog it’s got plenty of room, zipper position is a tad awkward, but the vestibule design allows for some extra useable space when needed.
5 star tent with a 2 star flaw that's already been mentioned. The dang zipper. Just got back from 2 nights in heavy rain, in order to open this tent you need to unzip the rainfly, reach across 3 feet or so to your left, under the extended fly, to grab the zipper. Meanwhile all of the wetness from the fly rolls onto you/into the tent. I'm 6'1, and long armed. This flaw is tough. I'm going to try it again a few more outings and will determine if it's a dealbreaker.
Great tent! Love everything about it and even purchased the paw print that came with it for my dog. My only criticism is that the zippers are singles and not doubles, so you can only open it one way.
I bought the Nemo to replace an old favorite Big Agnes tent that finally had begun to leak. I was midway through a 2 month cross country camping trip so it was important to have something reliable. The Nemo was a little bigger than the previous tent and 100% waterproof. It's quite quick and easy to setup and take down. I got use to the single zipper which allowed you to know where the pull was at all times instead of fishing for 2 different pulls. The only downside was it isn't free standing so if the ground was too hard for stakes the tent was a bit sloppy. All in all, for the price a great valued tent.
We got this tent for 2 adults and one medium sized (slightly chunky) lab. We set it up in our living room and at first thought it might be too small. Decided to still give it a go on a three night trip. While this is a three season tent, I will say it held up GREAT in out-of-the-blue snow lol We woke up to snow one morning and low 20s the next two nights. We wouldn’t have known it without checking our phones though bc we were so toasty and very comfortable. The dual vestibules for our shoes and packs, several pockets and hooks for hanging headlamps, and included footprint were all such great additions in making this an incredible tent. The simple pole system out our previous tent to shame. Set up and breakdown were a breeze. Overall, highly recommend this tent for two people +! We were very comfortable.
This tent would be great, and for all my needs except for one glaring, and unmistakeable flaw. 1 ZIPPER. If you feel like diving into the vestibule to reach the zipper each time you want to open or close the tent from the outside, than buy this tent. Everything else about it is great. But the mistake on the zipper situation is so glaring, I will be returning this to REI as soon as I can get there. What would adding a second zipper on the tent and fly cost? An extra $.10? C’mon Nemo. I wish I didn’t have to return this, but it really is that big of a deal.
