Temperature ratings are intended as a guideline to help you compare products, rather than a guarantee of warmth, since many different factors contribute to your comfort while you sleep. Backpacking bags are typically rated for temperature according to an independent testing protocol—currently International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 23537, though some older items followed European Norm (EN) 13537. Testing is based on a person wearing one base layer and a pair of socks, sleeping on an insulated surface with a minimum R-value of 5.38.

Each bag then gets 2 ratings: the Comfort rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "cold sleeper" comfortable, and the Lower Limit rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "warm sleeper" comfortable. Some brands determine their own temperature rating by aligning to the Comfort rating for women’s bags, to the Lower Limit rating for men’s bags, or somewhere in the middle for nongendered bags.

like sleeping in a cloud

This is so comfortable. It is light and fluffy and like sleeping in a cloud. I like all the zippers, especially the one opposite the main zipper so I can fold over like a blanket.the one at the feet is a nice feature as well. I didn't give it a 5 star because I noticed rather soon after using it a few times, the outer fabric tends to get caught and snag easily. I am not using anything sharp around it's just my hands and the natural way you pull up a sleeping bag. There are a few pulls along the main body of it as well. I'm not being rough with it so the is disappointing. I took a great deal of time to figure out which bag to buy. It's an investment and ultimately worth it.

Nice bag, runs smaller than advertised

This bag was nice and comfortable, but seemed smaller than the listed measurements. A medium build, 5 ft 6 in woman found it tight, in both length and girth. The larger foot area was nice but the rest seemed more tight than necessary for a woman’s normal sized bag.

Nice features!

I love this sleeping bag, particularly the foot-end zippers, that allow me to put on my shoes and penguin-walk out to start my stove in the morning, without having to get out of my cozy bag until my hot coffee is ready and I am warmed up. Or at night when I realize at 3 AM I need to close the vent on the top of my tent, which has only outside access. I can slip on my shoes and step outside without having to get out of my bag.

Love the foot vent

I had a really nice down bag, but because it was a mummy bag, my feet would get really hot. This bag is great! The foot section is wider than a normal mummy bag and with the foot box zipper, I can stick my feet out when they get hot. Works well when it is warm or cool. Highly recommend.

Warm & Toasty

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently went on a weekend campout. The temperatures went as low as 22°F during the night. With an extra blanket this was perfect! I slept quite comfortably, stayed warm throughout the night and my toes were warm in the morning. I'm impressed!

This bag is very soft and cozy. There is plenty of room in the feet area to move them around. I highly recommend this bag.
