    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

    Brooks Cascadia 9 Trail-Running Shoes - Men'sis rated3.8571out of5by7.
Rated2out of5byfromExcellent performance--suspect workmanshipI hate to rate this shoe 2 out of 5. It's comfortable, relatively light, fits well, performs on trail and off. But after two months of pretty light duty, the stitching on top of the toe box completely unthreaded. This also happened with the Cascadia 8, so I think I'm done with Cascadias for now. It's too bad--my Cascadia 6s are very worn but still intact after three years.

Rated3out of5byfromBeware ofAfter reading nothing but great "reviews" about the Cascadia's I went out and spent a little more than I normally would to see what all the hype was about. I still don't know. Apparently within all the comments on various trail sites, the one thing that I never came across was the construction of the footbed in Cascadia 8, 9's . . . I don't know all the jargon but seems that the heel is a lot lower than the forefoot, like wearing a pair of Birkenstocks ( which I would never do anyway) and even though I have a wide forefoot I was still swimming in these shoes and worst of all, it wasn't really until I bought these and tried them out for a few days that my legs really began to feel odd and I was very happy to have the superb REI return policy––went back to my Solomons. Still, there are enough people that like them, for my opinion to be worthless, but if you're a fan of Solomons or don't like the birkenstock angled heeled, really think these through, or get used to them or . . .

Rated5out of5byfromGreat shoe for technical trailsThese shoes are great. I have about 50 miles on them and I couldn't be happier with them. They really shine on technical single track or really uneven Rocky surfaces. Not great on the road, but that isn't what they at made for. Grips those shady snowfields without issue and really mellows out those sharp rocks underfoot. For comparison my road show is an ASICS GT 2000 and I am approx 200 lbs

Rated4out of5byfromAwesome out the boxRight out of the box the Cascadia 9 was great. Went out on a short 3.5 mile trail run (mix of gravel, sand and rock). There was great protection underneath from rocks and good support. Cannot wait to get out for another run.

Rated5out of5byfromPCT approvedAvid Sierra backpacker - 3 months on the trail (or off) summers - (one of the perks of being a high school teacher). Anyway, hanging out Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite last year, I had opportunity the meet /hike with many of the PCT crowd coming thru...mile 947. BTW, I had previously done the trail 2005. Looking for new (lighter) trail runners to replace my heavier boots when backpacking on-trail and carrying under 30-pounds, I asked what shoe they recommended/ preferred/ wore on the trail. Surprisingly, the majority I asked swore by Brooks Cascadias. I had never heard of them. Bought a pair soon after - maybe 300 miles since - on-trail with pack. No problems...recommended.

Rated4out of5byfromGreat trail shoe!I use these shoes for my trail runs. Straight out of the box I ran 15 miles without any discomfort. these shoes gripped well on wet surfaces. Today I ran 16 miles on trail and had no issues. The surfaces I encountered were wet and had red clay, leaves, roots, rocks, mud, puddles, and many hills. From my first run, the Cascadia 9's left me with the impression that they would protect my feet for miles to come. The only downside is that they feel a little heavier than my normal day-to-day shoe, which is the ghost 6 road running shoe. However, I would trust my Cascadia's to get me through more than the ghost. Not to downplay Brooks Ghost (I ran a 100 mile trail race using 2 pairs of ghost 5 without any issues)which has worked out great for me. I have run about 45 miles in my Cascadia's thus far (3 runs within a week). The only time I slipped was while running downhill on rocks covered in moss. Not much surprise there. Also, roots and rocks underfoot weren't very noticeable. After about the 14 mile mark when I encountered the moss covered rocks, I actually said to myself, "it was about time I found something these shoes couldn't do." I would recommend this as a training shoe or trail marathon and above racing shoe. 5'6" male, 135lbs, mid/forefoot striker. 2:56 road marathoner. I somewhat reluctantly gave this shoe 4 stars because of the slightly added weight. I would like to note that I normally wear road shoes on trail, which tend to be lighter. All in all a great shoe and my next pair of trail shoes will likely be Cascadia's.
