Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Rated5out of5byfromAwesome PolesI'll keep the review short. If you're hiking long distances or hiking a lot of elevation change, you should use poles. If you WANT carbon poles, I'd recommend you buy these ones. I've used these poles for close to 200 miles and haven't had an issue to share. They are very light weight, the locks don't slip, comfortable to use and look great.

Rated4out of5byfromGreat lightweight polesI snagged a set of these at an REI Garage Sale a few months back. Since then I've put them to good use snowshoing and backpacking. These things are super light and super strong! The poles lock into place and stay in place. I can lean on them to rest with a full winter pack and not have to worry about them collapsing. Addressing the issue a previous reviewer had, if you push the lower segment in all the way onto the plastic foot it will lock, sometimes it takes some force because of the grit. My only gripe is that the metal tips don't appear to be replaceable. Other than that these are a great pair of poles.

Rated5out of5byfromExcellent for backpackingMy wife and I had never used trekking poles before, but on our way to a backpacking trip we stopped into REI and I decided to buy some. We ended up really liking them. My wife liked them so much that I couldn't barely get them away from her to try them myself. They are very lightweight, but strong. The grip is very comfortable and the strap is a great length. The locking mechanism is perfect and hold the pieces together well in the extended or collapsed position. I would strap these on my pack without fear of the small piece sliding out and getting lost. We spent a while in the store comparing these to some BD and other poles, but I'm glad we got the REI brand. They are light and more comfortable. We liked them so much that we bought a 2nd pair on the way home so we can each have our own set.

Rated5out of5byfromGreat poles.I used trekking poles for the first time this winter when hiking in the White Mountains. I found these poles to be incredibly handy and lightweight. Getting the snow baskets off was a little tricky.

Rated5out of5byfromGreat upgradeAs someone who enjoys long backpacking trips and mountain hiking, weight is the ENEMY! These give me the support needed for long treks and mountain terrain while being super light. Was very happy I was willing to spend a little extra!

Rated5out of5byfromGreat Trekking PolesI purchased these poles for my AT thru hike. I had never used trekking poles before, but I had never carried a heavy backpack for more than a couple of nights out. I am very conscious of my gear weight, and these poles are very light. They do not get heavy in the hands after a long day. I like the locking mechanism. I've had no issues, but I'm sure the screws will need adjusting or tightening at some point so I do recommend carrying a multi-tool or pocketknife with a small screw driver just in case. One thing I must say about these poles is that they are very strong. I weigh 350 pounds, and they support me crossing streams and all types of terrain. I put a lot of weight on them and they take it!

Rated5out of5byfromREI carbon hiking polesAfter a lot of research and trips to a couple REI stores where I received great advice finally bit the bullet and paid for REI carbon poles. Tried them out for first time and must say they were worth the investment. Made climbing steep inclines much easier on both legs and back and the descents much safer. Hiking on packed snow and ice and felt much more secure with the added traction and support. The easy adjustability is a great feature and you can't beat the weight or lack there of. Not the cheapest ones avail but well worth the extra cost.

Rated4out of5byfromAwesomeWent on a 25 miles hike at altitude with a pack. These worked great. When I hit snow, one of the poles did collapse. With temp change, I should have brought a screwdriver to adjust tightness. Otherwise, these things are awesome. Toward the end of the hike, I had to use these as crutches for my knee. After several hikes, these poles have scratches and dings but still work great.
