Rated5out of5byMountainNolefromLove Love LoveI absolutely love this jacket. I use it when I go hiking/backpacking and rock climbing or when I'm just out and about. I ended up with the blue and am constantly getting compliments on how nice the color and style is from just about every personality type.
There are several great things about this jacket. It is very lightweight and packs down into its own pocket so it is GREAT to travel with. The fabric seems to be pretty durable and it fits perfectly (though, I was able to go with a size smaller than I would with North Face, Patagonia, etc). It's great in cold weather climates but also works in warm climates when it gets a little "chilly" at night. Also, the pockets hold quite a bit without ever feeling bulky.
One thing to keep in mind, however, is that it is water/wind RESISTANT, not proof. It will hold up to a light rain but you'll want a shell for anything more than that. You will also want to layer either over or under it during severe winds. I have taken it through 20-30mph winds at about 19 degrees F and was just fine with a warm long sleeve shirt under but if you don't like the cold, bundle up.

Rated4out of5byJFrayfromWarm, Versatile JacketI wear this jacket all of the time. I ride the bus to work and this jacket does a really nice job of keeping me warm even when it's windy. I've also worn it during hikes and camping trips and have been quite satisfied with its warmth and durability. It's good for layering (both as a mid- and outer-layer). I'm 5'2 with a 36in bust and the medium fits me well, with a little room to spare for wearing a sweater underneath but not too big that it looks sloppy. I've gotten caught in the rain a couple times with this jacket and it has repelled the water relatively well, but I would recommend layering a rain jacket over it if you know you're going to encounter more than a light shower.

Rated5out of5byTorafromAwesome jacketMy teenage daughter loves the softness, lightness and the fit. It has interesting stitching patterns that add to the stylishness. She wears it in 20 degree weather with just a light extra layer underneath - but I doubt this would be enough for most people.

Rated5out of5byTCnomadfromDefinitely a great buyThis is probably the best lightweight jacket I've ever had. I don't like wearing bulky jackets, so I layer this under the North Face Apex Bionic jacket, and between the two of them I stay warm outside (it can at or below freezing here in the winter) and don't burn up when I walk inside. The wind is almost entirely blocked out as well. I tested that standing on the bow of a ferry in WA in the winter; other than my face, I was perfectly comfortable in the biting wind. I am short (5'4") and busty, so trying to find jackets that are my size (L/XL) that don't also have monkey sleeves or a ridiculously long torso like a lot of other outdoor brands is almost impossible (because of course the only women who wear size L outdoor wear must be Amazon women). The length of sleeves and the torso fit are perfect. REI's clothing might be looser/less fitted on someone small and slender, but it fits perfectly for a shorter and curvier body like mine. It's also handy that it packs down small for traveling so I can leave the bulky coat at home. And it's made from recycled materials! Definitely a great buy.

Rated5out of5byShantiFrecklesfromLightweight with midrange warmthGreat styling and stitching in a lightweight but mid-range warm jacket. I got this in black with the bold purple trim for a layer under the REI Belltown Rain Jacket. I'm 5'4" 130 lbs and the medium fit great but a little snug on my busty frame, so I went with the large and it is perfect. The jacket is great as an under layer on a cold rainy day, or very stylish for city hikes on a 30-40 degree day.

Rated5out of5byCasual DonnafromComfortable & WarmI wear this jacket everyday because it is very lightweight and warm. I often leave it on even at work -unzipped. I walk late at night when it's pretty cold so I just throw on a scarf and hat and good to go. I bought the black and am definitely condidering another color. BTW, I have short arms and this jacket fits very well so if you have a long torso/arms, you may want to try it on first.

Rated5out of5bypnwhiker2fromGreat Lightweight Warmth! This is a great addition to one's layering system. I was looking for a lightweight synthetic instead of down for the wintertime in the PNW. I've used this on a few outings where temps dropped below 32 degrees. When combined with a fleece it kept me warm. The jacket also fits into an internal pocket which can be easily attached to the pack when not needed.

Rated5out of5byheydogrunfromWarm as a latte, light as the foamMaybe the best combination of warmth, light weight, and lack of bulk in REI's line. Not close to waterproof - will shed middling fog but not much more - but then you'd buy something else for rainwear anyway (would, however, go nicely under a waterproof outer layer). First-rate windbreaker, though, when the greyhounds want to walk early in the morning, and the orange color is good for safety and visibility.
