The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Rated4out of5bySmackyfromDurable and do the jobI have both these and the taller ones that go up to the knees and have no problems with either. I use these smaller ones mainly for muddy wet conditions to seal up the tops of my boots and pant legs and keep mud/rocks and water out when trekking thru unavoidable wet spots. Obviously the tall ones are best for deep snow if you do not have snow shoes, but these also work good for that as well.
Just a personal preference here, but I would like to see something different than the strap/buckle style on the bottom. I havent had any issues with that system on either pair, but would like something that is completely slip on/off with very little adjustment.

Rated2out of5bySNOGLOfromHas fundamental anatomical problemsI used this product on my thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail for a few hundred miles. It's important to have lightweight gaiters so that you're not dumping rocks & dust out of your shoe every mile or two, or getting soaking-wet snow falling into your show. It also protects your socks and lower leg from ground-level brush.
The product is lightweight and inexpensive, but save your money for better design. The elastic around the shin will restrict the muscle movement and, after 50 or more miles, it will begin to hurt the muscle. Before I figured out it was the elastic, I thought I was having bad shin splints. As soon as I figured it out, I ditched these in a hiker box for someone else to use if they wanted. It's just not designed for constant, long-distance use. For a short hike, you probably wouldn't have any problems, but then again, what's the point if just for a few miles?

Rated1out of5byWhiteblaze - GAfromWeakly assembled at lace attachmentThe lace anchor does not have a firm attachement to fabrick body of the gaiter. The gromlet is too small and pulled right through the flexible fabric material. Separated after 4 hours of first time use in light scrub brush. Disappointed. Expected better. Searching other suppliers.

Rated4out of5byTarp-BoyfromWorked wekk on week-long tripThe low gaiters worked well on a recent week-long trip on the CDT in Colorado. I encountered a variety of trail conditions - dust, rocks, brush, a couple of snow banks, stream crossings - and did not get anything in my boots. Worked well with shorts or long pants. Thety ere comfortable to wear all day. I plan to wear these whenever I go backpacking and when I expect poor trail conditins while day hiking. I had previously ordered the high gaiters but returned those before using them. These are better for summer.
