The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.
by DeltafromAmazing idea... But far from perfect.Good idea! Not quite mastered, but it has good potential. The big con for me is the amount of time you need to hold the lighter up to the burner, (about 15-25 seconds) for it to catch on, which unfortunately makes this product really tough to use in a survival situation. For sledding, snow boarding, and casual winter sports this thing is fun to use. As for the burn time, the max I had it hot was for about 15 hours... (Inside my house) and then it ran out. If Zippo could add an on/off switch this would be gold.

by HappiestHangingfromGood once startedI live in North Dakota during the winter months. It is nice to put in an inside pocket to warm up the torso. First time use is a little ruff. Following first time use directions I over filled (therefore overflowed), but that is no problem. If you leave it to sit you have to re-wet it, but thats it. You usually have to hold a flame to it for about 30 seconds for it to light. Good product once started.

by MeyowjrfromGreat when it works!I purchased this product to use when playing winter golf. I've tried to use it only 4 times. Twice I couldn't get it lit. On both occasions when I was able to get it lit, it worked very well. I haven't been able to determine why it worked when it did and why it didn't work when it didn't. Not very reliable.

by SpreaderfromWorks Great!!This thing sounded dangerous at first, but turns out this design has been around for ages. This uses a catalytic converter that uses lighter fluid as fuel to produce heat with no flame. I bought it today and it has been going strong for 11 hours now. It works as intended and keeps your hands warm. This has been my friend today with temps in the teens in E. WA. I also like the idea of not buying and throwing away lots of those plastic wrappers from disposable hand warmers. It was easy to fill and light up also. The instructions were slightly confusing, telling you to put two of the measuring cups of lighter fluid into it initially, but a sticker on the outside of the package says to put in only one. The only reason why I gave it 4 out of 5 is because it is made in Taiwan and doesn't feel as solid as a true Zippo product (which its not), and pieces feel slightly loose fitting. I'm happy with it and will probably buy another one for my other pocket.

by KonsumerfromIt works very wellSeveral years ago I bought what came to be the last Jon-e hand warmer REI carried. I needed another catalytic hand warmer because they are efficient and more environmentally friendly, in my opinion. I decided on the black Zippo Outdoor Hand Warmer model after stumbling around on the web for several hours and decided to give it a try. Testing, I put the Jon-e in one pocket and the Zippo in the other. Hands down the Jon-e is hotter and easier to fill with fuel. This Zippo is nearly as hot and adequate heat source. I don't close the pouch tightly so that it gets more air, which makes it produce more heat. I'm very happy with its performance, trim size and construction quality.
