Comments about Infinity Odyssey 295 Tandem Inflatable Kayak - 2012 Closeout:
Very compact and includes backpack and pump, and appears to be very rugged, but inspite of carefully inflating to less than the max pressure, the floor chamber leaked the first time out. Since it is rather wide and has a blunt profile, it is roomy, but is very slow on the water. The inflated seats are great, but very low in the boat and makes paddleing a bit of a chore.

Comments about Infinity Odyssey 295 Tandem Inflatable Kayak - 2012 Closeout:
The kayak was shipped to an REI store, where it arrived well boxed. My first impression was that the workmanship and stitching are good overall, with attention to detail. The nylon top and handles are all strong and look quite good. The seats also are better than average for an inflatible and fairly comfortable after some adjustment of the back straps. In order to accommodate two fairly small adults, it is necessary to put the seats as far apart as possible. My biggest worry is that the hull is rather thin rubber-like material. It has narrow nylon/plastic scraper strips on the front and back to protect it; but the manufacturer made an error with a hull seam, tried to fix it with several small patches, and caused a particularly weak area that will need some kind of attention. There is a patch kit included with the kayak that may do the job. There is also a heavy plastic two-way air pump included, but the primary pump connection valve recommended in the manual for inflation was left out. By holding another included valve to the kayak air inputs and operating the pump with one hand, I was able to inflate the kayak. However, perhaps because I was using the wrong valve, the gauge on the pump would not read pressure. The manual says to put in 1.5 psi of air and to take care not to overinflate, but that's hard just going by feel. I have informed the manufacturer of the shortcomings and am still waiting for a reply. Overall, I like the kayak but I haven't been able to use it yet. I'll say I would recommend it, ASSUMING the above problems get fixed.
