Princeton Tec Vizz Headlampis rated3.6667out of5by36.
Rated1out of5byfromNo goodEats batteries really fast. Even when sitting my pack in locked mode with new batteries I have had the low battery light start flashing. The switch may or may not work. Light regulation is not good. There is a dark spot where the dim-able LED beams converge. Sending back.

Rated1out of5byfromNot recommendedI bought this light because of it's high waterproof rating and lumen output. As a coastal kayaking guide I was looking for durability and enough power to shine through fog. Really unhappy with the light. It's bright and waterproof but the battery life is just a couple of hours working on the lowest lumen output. The battery door is held closed by a removable screw. Having to change the batteries once a day in the field equals a lot of opportunity for that little black screw to drop into the leaves or water and be gone forever. Overall just a poor design for anyone outside more than one day/night.

Rated1out of5byfromThis will be getting returnedPicked this light up a few months ago after my other Princeton Tech light stopped working. After a few trips i have to say the battery life is terrible. It is no brighter than my last Princeton Tech light but gets only 25% the life. Also the angle adjustment is very poorly designed. After a few uses it became lose and would angle down while i was hiking. This light is going back.

Rated2out of5byfromVery poor battery lifeI bought this headlamp for my early morning (while dark) walks and have been sorely disappointed with the battery life. A couple of hours and the red warning light comes on. What a waste of batteries! No, I would not recommend this head lamp- you just get started and poof!light starts dimming out. I certainly would hate to depend on it in unfamiliar territory.

Rated1out of5byfromUnreliable and there are better optionsWe recently climbed Kilimanjaro and bought two Vizz headlamps. After less than an hours use, my red light started flashing, indicating I need new batteries. The flashing red light would surely drain the remainder of the battery life, so I would have to take out and put back in the battery after each use. The other one Vizz started doing the same, then wouldn't turn on at all, even with fresh Lithium batteries. Luckily, we had a cheaper Black Diamond lamp that she used for summit night. I replaced the batteries in my Vizz with new lithiums and it worked for most of the night, but shortly after the sun came up, which was a little more than 6 hours of use, it was almost dead. Since turning it off meant the red light would continue to flash and it was too cold to start fiddling with battery removal, so I just put it away. Of the 11 headlamps in hour group, this lamp was the only one that barely made it to the top and didn't work at all by the time we got back to base camp. There are much better options available.

Rated4out of5byfromGreat product, reasonable priceI use this headlamp on my nightly dog walks. It will be great the next time I climb Poon Hill for the sunrise! It's so much brighter than my old headlamp, and less bulky.

Rated2out of5byfromHuge disappointmentCount me among those who are very disappointed with this lamp. I like the brightness and comfort of the lamp, though it does feel a bit heavy when wearing it. I hate the battery life. I think China must be working overtime to make enough AAA batteries to keep this thing going. It started flashing red within a couple of hours when I got it. I chalked it up to weak batteries/poor shelf life etc, and replaced them. Same result. This, I might add, with minimal use around the house. I also don't like the switch. It seems to take me a couple of tries to find just the right position to press the switch. I see I have to pay postage for repair so I will try to appeal to REI to take a return, even though it's 3 months old. I so want to get rid of this lamp and get a different model.

Rated1out of5byfromLooks tempting but DON'T do it!While the specs and product description look amazing, don't be fooled by the marketing lingo. I purchased two of these lights and returned them both. Princeton Tec claims the Maxbrite LED to be regulated and have a runtime of 110 hours. What they don't tell you is that it is only regulated for 1.5 hours. The included manual states that the light has a minimum light output of .25 lux at 2m. Try to navigate with that! I found the Maxbright LED to weaken quite a bit after being on for only a few minutes. To top that off, the low battery light began flashing after approximately 3 hours of use on new batteries. With regards to the dimmable white LED's, they put out a horrible blue tint making things hard to see. And the placement of the red LED's creates a darkened circle in the middle of the beam. For those considering this light for running, it sticks out quite a bit requiring the strap to be quite tight to prevent bouncing.
