I almost bought the Silver edition GoPro but ended up buying the Black edition and this was included. My first use was on a 3 1/2 hour zipline tour and the camera was mounted to my helmet so i used the remote to power on/off and start/stop as well as take pictures. I couldn't have been happier with the results and credit the remote.

Right out of the box, I was concerned: it took overnight for the remote to charge. 1st complaint: The controls are not responsive. You press the power or shutter button, and there's a delay. It's especially frustrating when you're wearing gloves and you are trying to press a button and you can't tell if you pressed it enough, or is the device just moving slowly.
2nd complaint: When you press the power button to turn it on after it's been in use, it changes the operating mode. I spent more time cycling thru the operating modes (video, burst, delay, etc.) that it would have been quicker to just take my helmet off and manually turn the camera on and off. Will be returning.

It does what it's supposed to and it's consistent. What more could you ask for?

I got this because the GoPro app was killing the battery on my smartphone. This remote is very simple to use (it has only two buttons, just like the GoPro Hero 3). It took about 3 minutes to setup without even reading the instructions. Very simple.
