The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about National Geographic Ultimate Outdoor Map Kit:
I hoped this would replace the now discontinued Nat Geog TOPO! series. It doesn't. The software is awkward at best, mostly incomprehensible. The Route screen is 1/3 blocked by the side bar. Can't add waypoints and transfer to my GPS. No tutorial. Help menu is not helpful. The package exterior doesn't tell you that you have to pay an annual fee to keep it working. Have to start with a city location and then scroll tediously to the backcountry area of interest. Printed map legend did not all print. Scaling is confusing.

This is a great product I just would like it better if you could put it on a handheld GPS.

Comments about National Geographic Ultimate Outdoor Map Kit:
My disappointment with this product continues. The two latest problems I've encountered with MapKit/Alltrails are: Many, many areas of the TI maps are covered with gray bars, in other words - no data; and the print function which is limited to begin with will only allow TI printing. You can't print TOPO, terrain, or other maps. Only TI.
As I've stated before, this product represents a good idea, poorly executed.

Comments about National Geographic Ultimate Outdoor Map Kit:
Having topo data and the ability to print maps is great, but the best part is online. When I'm traveling, I can easily find a hike or bike ride based on distance, difficulty, and feedback from people who've done it before.

Comments about National Geographic Ultimate Outdoor Map Kit:
NG maps are great, and this does give you the ability to print these maps. But I wanted to load the maps to my Triton GPS similar to the Topo Explorer. This is NOT like Topo Explorer. If you are looking for that you can on your registration page for Magellan, get NG topo maps for all of USA, that you can purchase for the Tritons, specific to your serial number. Another main problem, most of the trails were not trails, but were locations, ie. state campground areas, but had no trail, no trail head, nothing more than the place on the map, near a campground! Very dissapointing! The major Nat Parks had roads, not back trails from what I could see.
Service and delivery comments:
REI, is great service, and I hope to get my money back. I did return this and they have a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee.

Comments about National Geographic Ultimate Outdoor Map Kit:
It seems that some of the other reviews have focused on the features of older National Geographic products that are not included within the Ultimate Outdoor Map Kit. I don't have experience with those products, so I can't speak to how great they were (or how expensive they were), but I couldn't be happier with this product.
For a perfectly reasonable price, the Ultimate Outdoor Map Kit provides access to some killer National Geographic maps and provides easy online access for adventure exploration and planning. The maps can then be transferred to your mobile device for easy access outdoors. It provides me everything I was looking for – I'm happy with the product.

Comments about National Geographic Ultimate Outdoor Map Kit:
I've been using TOPO from National Geographic for years and I've been waiting for the next cool map thing. This is pretty good. I agree with the other comments that it doesn't have all the tools found in TOPO and I would like more but what it does have is total USA coverage for topo maps and Trails Illustrated maps. I've spent hundreds of $$ on maps and now I get them on demand for printing and on my iphone. I'll take that deal.
I've only done a few hikes since getting the product but this is what I like - using the printed map with mobile app makes it easy to find where you are and see where you are going, iphone app lets you take photos that link to map, I can track a hike and the track is saved to my account, jumping from topo maps to National Geographic maps to Satellite image is cool. The picture is my track on a hike. The blue dots are photos. This also shows the profile feature.
I would like to see more tools and features to compliment and use with the maps but overall I like this.

Comments about National Geographic Ultimate Outdoor Map Kit:
The website and iPhone app have become my FIRST STOP for hikes I want to learn about and plan to do.
I don't use the printing capabilities as often as the online tools but when I do need it, it gets the job done.
The tools are easy to use and there are more than enough hiking options with helpful ratings/reviews to meet my needs. The GPS tracking in the iPhone app is a huge bonus!

Comments about National Geographic Ultimate Outdoor Map Kit:
I purchased this product thinking it would save me from having to buy a map for every area I wanted to visit. Unfortunately it is very limited with respect to trails available. The worst part is that it will not allow you to search by national park or forest. You have to know a near by town or city to search by. This limits your ability to look at an area at large, you must be very specific. I hope I can return it, especially because of the high cost for what you get.
