    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Garmin Forerunner 10 GPS Fitness Monitor - Men'sis rated4.0952out of5by42.
Rated3out of5byfromDecent low end GPS watchThis watch acquires a GPS signal fairly quickly, not much slower than $300+ Garmins. It tells me how fast I'm going on land and in the water, and that's all I really needed out of it. However, the build quality is its weakest point. My main use for this is to record and upload my runs and rides to Strava or RideWithGPS. Also to keep track of my mile pace during runs, and to record unique hikes that aren't well documented online. Features - decent feature set for the price. I mostly use Time/Pace and Distance/Speed modes. Design issues - wristband has broken on me three times (once on the first watch, twice on the replacement). The back of the watch could be smoother and more ergonomic - it protrudes awkwardly instead of rounding off to match the curve of your wrist. Battery - last about 4-5 hours. So I tend to use it for running, or recording shorter "extreme" hikes. But for any long distance riding or all day hikes, forget about it, it'll die during your workout. I am reluctantly recommending as a good entry-level watch to anyone getting serious with their training, but only if they extremely careful with this fragile watch.

Rated5out of5byfromgreat training toolI run for enjoyment and started doing 1/2 marathons and shorter runs just last year.I've used this many times since I got it in mid Jan. Picks up the satellites quickly, never longer than 1 or 2 minutes which gives me time to loosen up before my run. Great training tool, I can finally tell what the pace I want feels like. Easy navigation and setup. I'm not a huge guy but the wrist band is barely long enough-if you're a larger person you may want to check the fit. Over all it's been just what I need.

Rated1out of5byfromFine as a watch, but not much of a GPSIf you care about accurate speed, this thing is a joke. It must be doing some sort of moving averaging over a wide window, so it takes it forever to catch up with your actual speed. And similarly when you slow down, it takes forever for the speed to drop. So, whatever your sport is, if you're looking for immediate feedback to changes of effort or technique, this thing is useless. I've had a 205 and a 305 before, as well as Etrex 10 and another older Garmin, so I know what I want is easily achievable, certainly has been over the last 15 years, but this thing is a huge step back.

Rated4out of5byfromSolid and Simple GPS WatchA bit over a year ago I finally stopped carrying my phone with a GPS app and bought a GPS watch. I searched for a long time and found the Forerunner 10 to be everything I wanted in a running watch. I liked the easy setup and the watch gave me just what I wanted: Distance, Speed, Calories, Pace. I didn't want frills and a ton of data. I merely wanted to know how far I had gone. The watch downloads data easily on my computer and allows me to export whatever data I wish. I have worn it in all weather and like that it is water resistant (unlike many other GPS watches). It is quite accurate, as I found out when it got turned on during an airplane ride and measured the speed and distance between Austin, TX and Las Vegas. I truly have nothing bad to say about this watch; as it has performed exactly as I intended it to. If you seek a simple to use and easy to manage GPS watch, and don't feel the need to spend $250 or more, this is the watch for you.

Rated2out of5byfromAmazing - until the wristband failed. After a lot of research including the reviews here, I decided this was the watch for me. I bought it in May 2013 to train for an October 2013 marathon. I cannot say it enough how PERFECT it worked. It is accurate, found satellites quickly (this may be a regional issue, my friend's in MN had significant issues throughout his training, I had none in CO). Controls were easy, and it was absolutely perfect for my training. Marathon came and went and at some point in the trip one side of the strap came off. There are two points it attaches to a pin on the watch, and once it comes off it will not go back on. I've tried everything. I emailed garmin support with no luck, and everyone on google is telling me this is a significant issue. I will be returning it. Would I recommend someone buying it? It may be worth it, it would be a no-brainer if REI still had the lifetime guarantee, but I can't see taking the risk since it's only a year now. Amazing product, defective strap. Extremely frustrating.

Rated1out of5byfromok - until defective wristband failedGreat opportunity for Garmin to own the low-end of the running watch market - but they blew it: FR10 wristband design is defective and breaks at junction of band and watch-body mount (like mine did). Common flaw, read all about it on Garmin and RunnersWorld forums. FR10 also unreliable and slow getting initial GPS fix when starting a route - plan on standing around/stretching for extra minutes while you wait (yes that's with clear line of sight to sky).

Rated5out of5byfromBasic Needs for Running on a BudgetUsing this to train for a 1/2 marathon. I love the ease of use, the cost was great and the pacing aid has really made a difference for me. Most of the other models were priced too high for my budget. Glad I found this model.

Rated3out of5byfromDoes the jobThe watch does what its supposed to do. Getting the initial signal has been touch and go. Once connected the watch works flawlessly. I connect the watch to a Mac. The autorun feature does not work so the software must be launched manually. The software is easy to use and provides the right amount of information.
