The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Rated2out of5byMatt the Mountain manfromThese use to be good...I've used only Salomon shoes for the past 5 years. This is my second pair of winter shoes (the first since they changed from the Gortex brand). I bought these at the the very end of winter last year. I blew them up a couple months ago. I was constantly having to adjust my laces.
I decided to try a new brand out due to the horrible quality the Salomon brand is doing lately. It's a shame too because I don't want to change.

Rated1out of5byJason KuehnfromGreat fit, horrible shoeI bout these because they fit so well and are waterproof. However, I'd never do it again.
1. They are EXTREMELY hot. I've had lots of gore shoes so I know they're warmer, but these are almost unbearable in the summer. I actually had weird skin conditions from my feet baking so much.
2. The waterproof feature lasts like 2 months at best.
3. Worst of all, they fall apart. The thin laces saw right through the shoe fabric within a few months.

Rated2out of5byJankofromQuality downgradeI use these shoes for climbing nearby hills, walks, ocasional trail running. The first pair I bought 5 years ago was perfect, comfortable, durable. Had it for 4 years. I was also running more then. Something changed for the worse during this period. There was a substantial increase in variety of models Salomon now offers. Well, XA 3D went bad. Not as comfortable as it used to be, especially not as durable. Inside of the shoe tears very quickly on the heel. Doesn't hold the heel inside of the shoe properly, gave me a lot of blisters. Sole wears very quickly. Lacing and stability great, cushioning is thin so not for running on the road!

Rated4out of5byGtr247fromSalomon brandI tend to tear up shoes/ boots pretty easily. Salomons in my opinion are some of the best fitting, and durable brand out there for the outdoors. I tried their boots first and now their shoe. I'm very happy with their products so far.

Rated5out of5byGone AZ WildfromSuperb All Weather Hiking ShoesI bought a pair of these two years ago at a local REI store during the annual dividend sale, and I don't believe I could have made a better choice. Seriously, these shoes are great.
I use them primarily for hiking as they are, in my opinion, a touch heavy for trail running. I do run in them a bit, however, but I have a pair of Salomon XT Wings 3 that I wear if I planning on running all or most of a trail as they are a bit lighter and feel exceedingly more agile. (REI has the weight of the XA Pros at 1 lb. 12 oz. and the Wings at 1 lb. 9 oz., but the Wings feel at least a couple more ounces lighter to me. I wish I had something which could weigh them with precision.) The Pros feel like a hybrid boot / shoe, in my opinion, which is why I wear them on any hiking / backpacking trip in which I'll be carrying less than 60 or so pounds.
I noticed that a few other reviewers remarked that the soles wear out rather quickly, but my experience with the XA Pros has been entirely the opposite. Same with the laces... I LOVE Salomon laces! =) Two years in and surprisingly little wear in either department.

Rated4out of5byNewenergyfromAmazing comfort, but wears fastThis is my 4th pair of Salomon's (first one of this style). They are the most comfortable shoe i have ever worn. I think they have a slightly wide toe-box which is nice for my feet. The waterproofing is pretty good, although the breathability isn't too great, just wearing them around on a warm day my feet get a little clammy (not too bad). They breath much better when it is cold out and are awesome for cold weather activities like running and biking. Traction is great for trails and pretty good even in snow and ice. The cons are: the sole will wear out quickly, the lacing system will break much too soon, and the lace is so thin that there is a spot where it partially wore through the padding in the tongue and now there isn't much padding between the thin lace and my foot which hurts if i tighten it too much.

Rated5out of5by77John77fromLong time buyer of these shoesI have been using these shoes for a hiking for about 3+ years--probably have gone through 12+ pairs. I hike about 3.5 miles, 5 days week, and have taken them on other longer hikes including Grand Canyon, down/up in one day, and they are great. Have used other traditional hiking shoes but these really have been great. They are light but still provide excellent support and toe protection without being too heavy (like other light hiking shoes that I've used). I go through a pair every 4 mos. or so but this was about the same as other light hikers. I just started using custom insoles from RoadRunner (in NP, CA) that extend the life and improve the feel.

Rated3out of5bydeggenschwilerfromNot bad, but some flaws. For the most part, these are pretty solid solid shoes. I used them on the Inca Trail and all over Peru. They do well in wet weather, but the ventilation of the ClimaShield is very poor. My feet were often quite warm while others with the GoreTex version of these shoes did not experience the same problem. Also, the laces are a bit uncomfortable when tightened enough for steep, extended downhills.
