    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Oboz Traverse Low Hiking Shoes - Men's is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Firebrands I love Oboz Firebrands, even at $140 and with treads that struggle to last 400 miles. Unfortunately, this is not the shoe you are considering. Unlike the Firebrands, the Traverses run wide. They also have less rugged uppers and much less arch support, making the shoe average at best. But the big problem with these shoes is the lacing system...there are not enough eyelets, the ones there do not check the laces, access to the lower part of the laces is difficult, and I just cannot get these shoes to tighten up correctly. As a result, lateral stability is poor and the shoe regularly wants to turn under foot. On the plus side, the treads are beefy and provide good traction...for however long they hold up (moderate wear at 200 miles).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very comfortable and solid These shoes are very stable and have a good tough sole. The sole feels more boot-like, while the uppers feel more running shoe-like. I usually order a wide fit in shoes, but this shoe fit my foot fine in the regular width. I use these shoes for walking 5 miles per day on cement in hot, humid weather, and they are perfect. They are also very good for scrambling around on rocky hillsides where normal shoes have failed my expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic lightweight hiking shoes I bought these Oboz Traverse shoes for hiking the Appalachian Trail this year. So far I really like these shoes, they feel rugged, and I really like the traction on rocky terrain. I'm planning to wear these shoes on an end to end hike of The Long Trail in Vermont this year, and expect them to do great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shoe I am always looking for a better shoe for me to train. This shoe felt so good in the store and I was amazed how light weight. The real test was when I went for my first run and absolutely loved these shoes! I already went back and got my hiking boots. This brand doesn't have the big name, but when you wear them you will be soooo happy you do!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Slippery soles The soles are very slippery when wet. On exposed aggregate sidewalks that are wet, these are slippery. On the rubber floor of the city bus, if it is raining, these are slippery. I was too wary to try them on wet rocks and roots. There have been a couple of other reviewers that mention this but not most reviewers which is strange. FYI, the tongue is connected on both sides. Not seem to be a problems with excess material though.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not much to like After several pairs of Oboz Sawtooth that I was mostly happy with, I opted to try to the Oboz Traverse upon Oboz's claims that these were a less sloppy fit. They also stated that these were more "sneaker-like." Neither of these claims are true. The Oboz Traverse doesn;t fit any more securely than the Sawtooth, which is to say it does not fit securely at all. However, the Sawtooth is immensely comfortable right out of the box so the sloppy feel can be somewhat forgiven for casual use. This is not so with the Traverse. It is far too stiff under foot (I am 6', 190 lbs btw) and insoles don't provide any relief. Although these shoes look nice, they fot poorly and are extremely uncomfortable. Look elsewhere.
