Comments about SteriPEN Ultra Water Purifier:

Only used the Steripen once so far, on an overnight hike in cold, freezing conditions. Every time I used the Steripen, I got the little snowflake symbol in the display which requires an extra minute or so of stirring with the light. I used panty hose to strain the water before using the Steripen and it all worked out nice. Much better than using my old pump.

Comments about SteriPEN Ultra Water Purifier:

Just used this Steripen on an overnighter in the GSMNP, and it was so much easier than pump filters I have used. I used pantyhose to strain water into 2 widemouth liter bottles (used these to gather water for cooking and for hydropacks for two of us) and then used the pen's uv light to sterilize. It was below freezing for much of the trip and it takes the pen over 90 seconds per liter in cold temps to give you the "smiley face" all clear.
