    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

by fromPoor design I was very excited to try this tent and was very disappointed. I was hoping that Mountain Hardwear would have looked at designs of similar tents and made improvements to this tent, but unfortunately it has many of the same problem other, similar tents have. The biggest is the way the center pole dips down above the entrance, probably to keep water from dripping inside. Unfortunately it makes it extremely difficult to enter the tent, as you practically have to sit on the ground and scoot inside. I'm not a particularly large person, but I had a hard time getting into this tent, and with the fragile feel of the fabric I'm afraid scooting in and out would eventually damage it. This is a common problem with end-door tents, and it isn't solved here. The tent is also quite cramped inside, despite seeming to have plenty of floor space, which I again attribute to the poor pole design. I'm going to suck up the extra ounces and go with a Big Agnes Copper Spur.

by fromLight. Very light. Very, very light. When I first picked this thing up I was in awe in how incredibly light this tent is. I tested it out recently on a climbing trip to Red River Gorge, KY. The weather was very nice, dipping in the low-mid 40s at night and remaining nice and sunny throughout the whole day. The nights were damp, and I did expect some condensation. However, I didn't expect as much as I received. The end of my sleeping bag was wet, but, given the design, this can be expected since your feet are inevitably pressed close to or, if you're over 6 ft., up against, the wall of the tent. The footprint (also very light, deceivingly carrying the appearance of paper) worked very nice to absorb moisture from the ground. This tent is not very intuitive to stake down, and I would DEFINITELY read over the instructions well and make sure you do a couple "dry-runs" to make sure you have everything down before you hit the trail (something I did not do). Even now, I still remain aloof to the exact mechanics behind setting this thing up in terms of the guy-lines and the plastic choke clip. Overall, I think it's a great tent, well thought out, lightweight, design. You get what you see (and pay for!).
