The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.
Rated5out of5bypikachusaurusfromI love these shoes! These are my first pair of hiking shoes, I've had them for about a year. I was trying to decide between these and a pair of trail runners. As the other reviews have stated, these shoes are ready to go the very first time you put them on. They are extremely comfortable, waterproof, and lightweight, and flexible on the bottom. I run into puddles on purpose and stub my toes on rocks all the time (not on purpose) and these shoes have held up great. They will definitely last for many more years!

Rated5out of5byheartlorafromAs comfortable as most tennis shoesBought another pair of hiking shoes while training for the Santiago Camino Walk in Spain and they just continued hurting my feet. Went back and REI refitted me with the Ellipse and instant relief. I walked and even ran thru the store and they were so much more comfortable immediately. They never required a break in (like my other brand). I love the wider bed so that my toes are not crushed after a long walk/hike. I have a bunion and they do not interfere with it. I consider my ankles thin and they were still able to tie snuggly around my feet and ankle. Love, Love these shoes. I have even worn them to the gym and exercised in them. They look more like a tennis show than a hiking shoe so I was not embarrassed to wear with workout pants.

Rated5out of5bypiegirltoofromFabulous. Run large.I bought these for hiking but find myself reaching for them often as an every day casual shoe. They are the ultimate in comfort and look pretty darn good IMHO.
I normally wear a 7 1/2, but the 7 (38 2/3) in this shoe is perfect. I have narrow heels but do not normally wear narrow shoes. I've loved every pair of Salomon shoes I've ever owned, including XC ski boots.

Rated3out of5byMontaukfromnice wide toe boxBought these to use for wet days, especially in winter, as an alternative to sneakers. They are a little hard but are getting better with wear. I have a wide food in front and high instep. These are wide enough without going to a wide width shoe. The mid section and back are too wide for me, so I have to wear a thick sock and use a special tying method. I have had different brand of hiking shoes in the past and they were so uncomfortable that I never wore them. These don't feel like slippers on my feet, but they are sturdy. I have high arches and chronic plantar fasciitis and I wear a Birkenstock insole in my shoes. I was able to fit it in these for extra arch support. It also took up some of the extra space. Someone with normal arches would probably be fine with the insoles that came in them.

Rated4out of5byHannamanfromNot the most fashionable but super comfyThese shoes are very masculine looking for a women's shoe and they are not very fashionable but they are super comfortable hiking up and down hill, and the laces are nice and long and work great to cinch the shoe around your foot.

Rated4out of5byDeb Out for AdventurefromLove it! Love it! Love it!This lightweight hiker took a week to loosen up but now feels fantastic. I have wide feet, so they are snug while wearing the thick expedition smartwool socks, but are perfect with thinner socks. I also have Morton's Neuroma (a nerve bundle in the balls of my feet) which often hurts. But not in these shoes. I have been wearing them almost everyday at work for the last month--I teach on my feet 7 hours a day--and my feet are still happy. Finally a hiking boot that works!

Rated4out of5byEpicuriosityfromdurable and lightweightRecently returned from a very muddy trip to Kauai, HI where we hiked in some very muddy conditions. I'd have to say that these shoes held up well despite the weather conditions. Not 100% water proof but then again they are not advertised to do such. I felt as though I had great traction and they were lightweight. So far so good with this purchase.
