    Osprey Viva 65 Pack - Women'sis rated3.0out of5by2.
Rated2out of5byfromStrange fit, not comfortableI'm 5-6, 170 lbs, and busty (42-35-41). I've been trying to find a backpack for ~ 6 months. I've tested various ones with 20 lbs in them. My challenge is finding one that fits my 18" torso, doesn't cut into my bust (or make them pop out even further!), and doesn't stress my lower back (I have a L4-5 bulging disc). When I first put this on after adjusting the hip, shoulder and chest straps, I noticed that the back of the harness poked me in the neck. I also felt like I was going to tip backwards and my lower back was uncomfortable, despite the weight being in the bottom of the pack. I shortened the torso and tightened the front to back compression. The tippyness improved a little but now the shoulder straps dug into my bust and the pack poked the back of my neck more. I felt a little light-headed as well. I fiddled with the pack some more but was not able to make it comfortable for my lower back without feeling like I was going to faint. I'm taking this pack back. It's a shame this was the only women's Osprey pack in my size. The hipbelt size on the others stopped at 34". So far, the Deuter ACT Lite 60 + 10 SL seems to fit best. I'll probably go with that one.

Rated4out of5byfrompack carries wellThis is a simple pack that carries well. I have used it on several different backpacking trips this year, including trips to Desolation Wilderness, Columbia River Gorge area, and one three week trip following the John Muir Trail (over 200 miles) in the Sierras, so I have put this backpack through it's paces. I usually use a sub 50 liter pack for my adventures, but needed a bigger pack for JMT, so opted to get Osprey's most basic 65L model since it won't see much use outside of this year. It is easy to load, and has fewer pockets than many of the other backpacks out there. I like it's simplicity. I found this pack to be highly adjustable- it should be able to accomodate a variety of sizes. The material is very durable (I weathered rain and hail storms, and temperatures from freezing to blistering. No kid gloves need to be used with this pack, but they still managed to keep the weight relatively low, at 3 lb 10 oz. I did cut off some of the extra webbing that I wasn't going to use to take off a couple ounces. The main con of this pack for me- the hipbelt pockets were useable, but I felt they started too far back, and zipping and unzipping them was a little awkward. It would have been nice if they had extended an inch or two more. My back also got more sweaty with this pack (it wasn't bad at all though, but I don't sweat as much as some) than with my more ventilated Osprey Aura, so that is definitely a consideration. I carried up to 30 lbs in this pack, and though it carried the weight well.
