After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.
Marin bikes purchased on REI.com can only be shipped to the REI store of your choice for pickup. The bikes are fully assembled and the shipping is free!

Marin Muirwoods 29er Bike - 2013is rated5.0out of5by3.
Rated5out of5byLowlanderfromGreat CommuterLove this bike and the advise/service from the REI staff in Encinitas. The 29er Muirwoods is a great start for a commuter build. I added a rack and panniers and my next step is to add thinner (37mm) tires and a smaller handle bar.
I definitely feel that this bike will last me for quite a while and I'm not afraid anymore to hit a pot-hole.

Rated5out of5byethosfromAwesome urban bikeYeah it might be on the heavy side but it's got lots of gears to adjust the ease of use and the crankshaft is smooth for an easy pedaling. Plus you get a good workout. The solid built also enables one to handle bumps and tough terrain much better than a lighter bike. If it was an older technology heavy bike with hard to pedal bearings and sprocket then I could see being a problem but this beauty is easy to ride and is very responsive to your style of riding. I love my Marin Muirwood 29er. It's a gentle beast.

Rated5out of5bylocalthreefromPerfect Urban BikePrimarily use this bike for recreation/commuting on city streets and paved/maintained paths. For the money, this bike comes with features you'd expect on a much more expensive ride. I added a water bottle and removed some plastic fairing and some goofy reflectors and this bike was good to go. The only con I listed was that this bike is pretty heavy, but I'm not racing cars off the line, so it's barely a con. Because it's so heavy, though, it really smooths out any rough terrain. If your store has this bike in stock, get it today.
