Rated5out of5byfromIt feels very good on my second day wearing itYesterday I went to the store to try on some Vibram Five Fingers as I always was curious how it feels and what "truly" minimalist shoes are all about. My current running brand is Newtons and although I like them (selected models, not all of them) I still get black toenail once in a while in them so I'm trying to find a way to avoid it and also to strengthen my feet along the way. So besides of trying Vibrams 5Fingers I asked to bring me Merrell Trail Glove 2 Cross-Training Shoes to try. I asked about Vibrams a few people who ran in them and got mixed reviews. It's also not easy to put them on and you need special socks (if you wear those) for them. While trying all these shoes I was advised by nice sales young lady about New Balance option of minimalist shoes and so I tried them too. After walking around in Merells and NBs I felt that NBs has more room in toe box and generally feels a bit wider which is better for my feet. So for extra $10 I got these and after trying them out at home, 1 mile on treadmill (trying not to overdo things here) and in a gym I feel like it was a good choice. Time will tell of course how they will hold up and if I can use them for long distance (my current favorite is half marathon since I stopped doing full ones for the lack of time and joint problems) running on pavement, trail and all in between.

Rated4out of5byfromJust a skosh more cushioning & heel riseTried these as an alternative to the FiveFingers, which I like a lot but find a bit too minimal. What I wanted was just a bit more cushioning and a slight heel rise. While I like the FiveFingers, I sometimes get an annoying Achilles irritation. So far the New Balance Minimus gives a similar minimal running experience (no knee pain) and they seem to offer just enough extra protection to prevent soreness and injury. So far, so good.

Rated5out of5byfromGreat shoeI've used my minimus for roughly 200 trail miles so far. I've used them mostly on dirt/rocky trails in north Georgia, including the Appalachian trail. I have extremely narrow feet, so these shoes fit me perfectly, I was able to get a size smaller and still stay comfortable. At first I was skeptical while breaking them in on pavement, I found some discomfort and I still hate running on pavement in these. However once I hit the trail for the first time, it made me love these shoes. About to order the GTX for wet days. Overall I have no complaints, took me a few runs to figure out how tight I needed them. Once you hit the trail, it's happy days. Great shoe.

Rated5out of5byfromBest EverThese shoes are near the best shoes I have ever had. I wear them to dress professionally at work or do the evening in jeans. Never again will I wear the traditional heavy and inflexible dress shoes our dads grew up with. This shoe promotes a mindful awareness of my feet in everything I do.

Rated5out of5byfromLove my Minimus Shoes! This is my third pair of Minimus shoes. They provide just the right amount of support for a great minimalist running experience without going full barefoot. If you are new to barefoot or minimalist running, your calves will take a beating as they get used to running the natural way again. Once that adjustment is complete, your knees, hips, and back will thank you for making the switch. I avoid running on anything but dirt trails, as running on asphalt or concrete is a bit harsh and pounding without all the padding of standard running shoes.

Rated4out of5byfromSo far so goodSuper comfortable & lightweight. I can feel muscles in my lower leg I don't feel very often because these sneakers have me walking more on the front of my feet. I haven't run on pavement yet except for short jogging but so far so good. I have always had flat feet so lack of arch has never been a problem for me. These shoes feel a little like my old wrestling sneakers which I like.

Rated5out of5byfromTHE trail shoeHave bought two pairs of these over the past couple of years and won't wear anything else. I have worn them for many 10+ mile runs on rocky, mountainous terrain without issue. I have seen some of the durability issues mentioned, but nothing that effected the functioning of the shoe. The mesh ripped on my first pair (after about 300 miles of heavy trail use), but I can still do long trail runs in them with no problem (the mesh is just a cover for the "glove" part of the shoe). I strongly recommend these if you have a wide foot as well. As a side note, please don't get these if you heel-strike. They are very minimally cushioned and it will wreck your knees and back rapidly. That being said, if you are wanting to train to strengthen your feet and calves for forefoot running (and don't feel like wearing silly five-fingers) this is your shoe. Just remember to do some hiking and ease into it!
