Rated4out of5byVin to the wildfromDecent mid-entry mountain bikeI've used this bike mainly on the XC trails around Seattle. It handles all the green/blue runs at Duthie Hill just fine. The fork could use a bit more travel, as it has just 80 mm and should have 100 mm, but it does alright.
I really started having some doubts about going for a hardtail when I took this bike to the McKenzie River Trail, but for now, I'm attributing that to my lack of skill and experience.
Overall, it shifts easily, pedals easily (thank you Shimano Deore!), seems durable, has good brakes, and provides a relatively smooth ride on XC trails. If you want to start bombing down a mountain, this probably isn't your bike. But if you just want to go have some fun on some trails that have flow, this one will do just fine.

Rated5out of5byOutdoor Dude44fromSweet RideAll the good reviews I read in mountain biking mags are correct. You can pay more for a bike but not get this kind of ride. This bike does great on the single tracks, rough terrain, hill climbs, ect. I am very please and highly recommend this bike to anyone who is serious about hitting the trails. I broke it in a Duthie Park and I can't wait to go back and play in the bumps, corners and the mud.

Rated4out of5byMuddy MudskipperfromBest Value For The MoneyI ride trails a lot. Typically 3-5 times a week and more when I commute. This bike is a great all-around trail bike. It climbs well, handles well, feels responsive and decends like a 29er should - fast!
The Trail SL 1 needs nothing. Buy it. Ride it. Clean it. Repeat steps 2 and 3. If you're a beginner, this is the bike to get serious with. You'll become a better rider, faster. It's got great components and is suprisingly light compared to my old Cannondale Trail SL4.
I expected to hate the saddle as I have with every other bike I ever owned. (I prefer WTB saddles.) But for some reason, the included Cannondale saddle works for me on this bike.
The fork is an entry level shock but a decent enough kit.
I just went through the exercise of test-riding over a dozen full suspension bikes and almost bought one before buying this. You will not be dissapointed. You can spend more but you won't get more bike for the money.
