REI Carbon River Jacket - Men'sis rated4.375out of5by8.
Rated5out of5byfromGreat StuffGood stuff. Don't expect this to be waterPROOF, but it does block a good bit of water and wind. Very comfortable jacket, solidly built. I got mine at a good price, too, by going when REI was having a sale, so this jacket was a double win!

Rated4out of5byfromLight but warmGreat when riding my bike in those chilly mornings; deflecting cool winds. Kept me decently dry while riding in the rain. Windproof without the sacrifice of style with its matted look (not shiny, looking like a plastic bag XD). Great for hikes, stroll, or lawn concerts that last to the evening.Lightweight and breathable that it's not too hot, but thick enough that it can decently keep you warm (adding a thin sweater helps, but haven't found it necessary).Highly versitile to fit most occasions. Subtle design without a big logo. Chest pocket is awesome for my GS3 and ID. It's like a lightweight sweater that's waterproof with pockets that zip. Received many compliments. Hope this helps :)

Rated4out of5byfromVery Nice Features and Nothing ExtraI was looking for a lightweight shell for those summer days that have a cool, buggy evening, or a thunderstorm passes by - something I wouldn't use much so I didn't want it to take up much room. This jacket is great. I've been using a Marmot Dri-Clime jacket for 15+ years and never found anything better. This jacket has some inferior aspects, and some superior aspects, to the Marmot. The Marmot's Dri-Clime lining is not attached to the shell fabric, which makes it great in the rain as even when the fabric is wet it isn't touching your body - and thus dries very quickly. The downside is that the Marmot is difficult to put on over other layers as the Dri-Clime sticks to them. The REI Carbon River Jacket does not have a detached lining, and so this problem is not shared - a plus for the Carbon River. However, with the thin material on the shoulders, a steady drizzle would leave you wet - especially a couple years down the road when the DWR is gone. So it's a trade off. I'll call it a tie. If I felt it would block a little bit more precipitation I would have called it the winner. A stow-able hood or hooded version would be nice too. The Carbon River packs up very small, is quiet like a soft shell and overall a very nice piece. I highly recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a lightweight shell that won't cook you when it's not-so-cold out.

Rated5out of5byfromJust what I was looking forI was looking for something similar to the Mountain Hardwear Onata jacket, which had some sleeve and pricing issues. When you want something just to block the wind and that is lightweight for hiking, tennis warm-up,etc. and is not noisy fabric, this is the ticket. And, unlike MH, you can order your true size. I am a medium in most things, and the medium fit perfect.
