Rated5out of5byDarin23bfromGreat PantsI have had these pants for a week now and wore them about three times outside of work. I am 6'5" at 210lbs and am always please to have a pair of hiking pants that fit properly. With a 36" inseam, they are exactly the right length. The material is nice and breathable, and has a soft feel. I like the right leg pocket, with another hidden pocket inside the left front packet.

Rated3out of5byNico RfromPoor Change From the Old VersionI LOVED the old version of these pants for a pair of pants that a) fit (36" inseam), b) looked good enough to wear to work, and c) I could still hit the trail for an easy hike after. The redesign however, was flawed. The material is very very thin, so forget these if it's cold. And the fit on the legs is quite tight. I'm a fairly slim guy, but these are too tight in the thighs.

Rated1out of5bykogvosfromDisappointing new "design"I really wished I'd read the reviews before ordering these again. I've been a fan of these pants for years, but the changes since the "previous" model are woeful - the legs are now far too skinny (and I'm already a fairly lanky 6' 7") and the thinner material is disappointing. Another previously great product wrecked. I have to return these as they simply don't fit. Exchange won't work as the waist is fine, just the legs are awful.

Rated2out of5byRustyBowlfromNot TSA friendlyJust traveled with a new pair of these pants. 3 full body scanners detected something (fabric folds or zipper pulls) and I had to get the special pat down. This never happens with similar North Face pants. One metal detector went off as well presumably because of the zippers.
Definitely on the short range of 36" inseam. Cut quite slim so you wouldn't be able to wear long johns under the pants.

Rated2out of5byHern The HunterfromNot as good as previous versionI have purchased serveral of these pants in the past. I travel a lot and like the multiple pockets for wallet, passport, travel itinerary and maps, etc... The always packed nice and were loose-fitting so they here great for hiking, yet looked good enough I could wear them in the office.
The last pair I bought I didn't even try on because I had always bought the same size in the past. When I did put them on for the first time them I noticed that the material was much thinner and "static-clings" to my legs, and the fit is snug around the legs. It looks like I am wearing skinny jeans, and thus, they are embarrassing for me to be in.
I also notice they removed one of the larger lower pockets from the left leg, and it's the extra pockets is one of the reasons I buy these pants. They did add a small inner pocket with a zipper, but it is hard to operate becuase there's not much room, and when you put a waller in there it tightens the pants around the leg even more and shows a pronounced buldge.

Rated4out of5bydbofromMore tailored fit than previous version. The fit is certainly more tailored than the previous adventure pants, which is not necessarily a con. The waist is an inch or more smaller than sized, so go up a size, while the fit for the legs is perfect, even while active, although I am tall and skinny. It is not "skinny jeans" cut, but tailored than straight cut.
The dark color choice is not as dark and as "dressy passable" as you can make travel specific clothing like the previous version. It has a slight greenish tint to the grey now, and lighter overall.
The material is thinner, but doesn't seem to be a negative for durability and REI added reinforcement to the back of the leg cuff for shoes. The only problem I see with the lighter material and tailored fit is many of the pockets comfortably hold only light weight or paper items. I consider the hidden zipper pocket inside the left front pocket is good for hiding some paper currency but nothing more bulky than that.
-Please bring back the darker color from previous version.
-Remove the zippered leg pocket on the right side (left already removed). The thinner material and tailored fit makes this pocket almost useless and the pants less "travel" looking.
Overall, I approve and will continue to purchase.

Rated2out of5byLostin VAfromBRING BACK THE OLDER VERSIONLike the others, I purchased the newer version after having the older version. I'm 6'5" and 205 pounds, so finding anything with 36" inseam is a chore. The "updated" version of these pants fit at the waist, and the length is about right, but the fit in between is horrible. Even if the material is designed to stretch a bit (which it isn't) they would be extremely tight. As a travel pant, it implies that they will be comfortable during traveling, which for me involves flights, buses, trains, etc. (lots of sitting). They are extremely tight and uncomfortable if one is sitting. Might be okay for hiking along smooth trails where one doesn't need to stretch, reach, jump, or anything more than walking on a paved trail. I would equate these to an attempt at using something other than denim or cotton to make skinny jeans. With the old version, I could put my wallet in the back pocket and walk around comfortably, that is not the case with these.

Rated5out of5bysoareyesfromActually fit me well!I had a better experience with the new fit than other reviewers. I'm tall and thin (6'3" and 165 pds.) and the 34" waist/36" inseam fit great, not too tight for me at all. I also have an older pair that are definitely looser but I prefer the newer fit much better. I didn't notice any difference in the quality of materials or construction between the old and new design. I just wish they had a few more colors, but I'm thankful to find any hiking pants with a 36" inseam.
