As others have stated I own previous versions and went to buy another pair today and was surprised with how poorly the new ones are made.I guess I have owned my last ones unless they revert back to previous quality

This was the best pair of pants available. Both rear pockets zipped, two "hidden" side zipped pockets, bulletproof fabric, awesome construction. I not only traveled with 2 pairs of these but wear last year's model at work where they pass for "almost dress" pants. They washed over and over keeping their look and shape. For some reason, REI worsened the fabric and the pockets and the look. The "new" model is poor compared to the former. I am very disappointed.

Just got back from the REI store where I wanted to buy new Adventure pants. I own six pairs of the "old" model (3 long and 3 short). To my disappointment I found out that REI decided to introduce a new version of the Adventure Pants. This year's version of the Adventure pants is a poor substitute for last years. I do not care for the colors and the way the fit and the fabric. Last year's fabric was 100% nylon and they were very durable and after lots of washings looked good. This years are 65% polyester and 35% cotton. I decided not to buy the new versions and instead keep wearing my old ones.
In my opinion REI made a very poor decision in the re-design - What a disappointment.

Previous versions of these were great ---all around work, travel, hike explore. The new material is not nearly as nice
not as comfortable and wrinkles too much for work use. Slightly tighter fit doesn't help for comfort. Inside of pocket zipper is not as functional---in the constricted pocket space too hard to zip and unzip. I am going back to my "older" version of these although I wish I could buy additional pairs (older version)

This year's version of the Adventure pants is a poor substitute for last years. I was excited to get the shale color and when they arrived I was disappointed by the fit and the fabric.
Last years fabric was 100% nylon and they were very durable and after lots of washings looked good. This years are 65% polyester and 35% cotton and two washings later looked very worn. The fit is not nearly as roomy and comfortable either compared with its predecessor and I am thin.
I am just glad that I still have four pairs of last year's Adventure pants since this years are major disappointments and feel very cheaply made. I wish that REI raised the price by $5-10 and kept the quality the same!

Well, I wanted to like these. I own a pair of the previous version of the pants. They quickly became my favorite pants. So I went to REI to get another pair of the same only to find that they were all gone in my size. So I grabbed a pair of these thinking they should be similar. Well the fitting as far as waist and length were identical and accurate and the color and feel of the fabric seemed to be of the same quality. I also love the new key loop, its much easier to clip a carabiner to. But the pockets disappoint me. I wear my Adventure Pants for work and have to carry several items in my pockets that are needed for my job. Well I loaded all the same stuff into the pockets that I normally have with me and the pants instantly felt way too small. I couldn't sit down. Not to mention how overcrowded the left hand pocket felt by having the left zippered pocket inside of it instead of on the leg. Unfortunately, it looks as though I may have to return these. I would still recommend these pants to others, just as long as they don't plan on using the pockets.
