Rated4out of5byJakatannelfromGreat Airplane Travel Pants!I recently retired from the military, and had traveled much especially the latter half of my career. Since retiring I have continued to travel more than I had thought I would, so I am always on the hunt for comfortable travel clothing. These pants are absolutely incredible!! Simply stated, these are the most comfortable pair of traveling pants I have ever worn. The slight stretch in the material allows you to comfortably sit for long periods without the pants crimping up around the body flex sites (hips, knees, etc), and being "fluid" resistant (especially to cola and water as I found out in a recent trip to the Philippines), they will remain crisp and great looking even after 15+ hours on a plane. The only drawback is the built in web strap belt as is commonly being found in new travel and outdoor pants today. These belts twist when washing and does not allow one to attach something to it or wear a different belt. But as good as these pants are, the belt is something easy to overlook. Now if they only had more colors than "asphalt" and "steel grey"!

Rated4out of5byKyle TfromI love these pantsI've had these pants for around 8 months now and have been wearing them very frequently ever since. Right now i live in Japan and the climate here is very unpredictable but these pants are perfect since they are nice and breathable, they dry quickly, and they provide just enough warmth and protection against the elements.
I plan to buy at least one more pair when i return to CONUS

Rated2out of5byRTBMJBfromNot Like the Previous DesignThese pants are apparently a redesign of the same name from last year -- pants I really loved.
The redesign shows very poorly on the website, so I was very surprised to find seams and cuttings which created a jodpurh-like design -- something I had not seen in some time.
Perhaps good for horseback riding (English style), but clearly NOT what I was looking for. Returned immediately and received rebate of payment.

Rated4out of5byHigh Desert HikerfromVery Comfortable (Built in belt so so)I bought these pants because they were essentially the replacement of the REI Venturi pants. I was a huge fan of those as they stretched in all the right places but were still robust and fashionable enough to wear in public.
I primarily use them for hiking and when traveling on a plane. 4+ hours wedged into those tiny seats and most other pants would be digging in to you and you would have sweated enough to have "swamp bottom". I liked the Venturis so much I wanted to buy more pairs and discovered they were discontinued and this was the current equivalent so I tried them out.
It was obvious that these were a bit thicker and not quite as stretchy so they actually had a more traditional look to them. Kinda like wearing khakis. They breathe relatively well, have nice pockets, (although the one across the front of the leg (that was down the side on the Venturis) is really only good for small papers, loose change, etc. Anything bulky will show a big bulge and dig into your leg. Having both types i prefer the pocket running vertically down the side of the leg.
These are very water resistant..... spilled water onto the pants and it beaded up and I just brushed it off without the leg showing a wet spot where the water was.
The only big flaw on this is the built in belt. It is really cheap and loosens itself during use. It would be better with the type of adjustment belt the Venturi had or just with loops so you could wear your own belt.
These pants seem to have the durability that they will last a while, but I prefer the extra comfort the Venturi's had.
In short if you frequently find yourself getting squeezed in the wrong places with other pants but don't want to be that person out on the trail or in the airport wearing sweats you will be happy with these.
The durability and nice appearance is just a big bonus.

Rated5out of5byOpinionated Hikerfromexcellent, highly recommendedHiking is my business. I write and publish hiking guidebooks (hikingcamping.com) and write for outdoor magazines in the U.S. and Canada. I average 1,500 to 2,000 km on the trail every year. I think these pants are excellent, and I highly recommend them. The material is the ideal weight for a broad range of hiking environments and conditions. Quality and construction are solid. And the integral belt is a huge plus. Pants with belt loops -- even if you have an ideal belt -- never work as well. The upper edge of the pants will keep sliding down, while the belt remains. It's uncomfortable, requires frequent fussing, and looks ridiculous. Yet hiking pants with integral belts are not common. I applaud REI for designing and offering a superior hiking pant with an integral belt.

Rated3out of5byTexbambamfromA little disapointedNice pants but, no belt loops and only one cargo pocket make this a less than perfect pant. Also they way they go up in flames is not so good either. Would not recommend them for camp fires or flying. Anywhere an open flame could contact you. Other than that these are just OK.
