Comments about Lowa Renegade II GTX Lo Hiking Shoes - Men's:
I use these as an everyday shoe when I'm out with a load of camera gear. My travels often take me to urban spaces that can best be described as industrial and not pedestrian friendly. These shoes are great for walking on broken cobble stones and gritty surfaces, as well as climbing up and down through old buildings. They are a bit pricy, and only time will decide if I get my money's worth.

Comments about Lowa Renegade II GTX Lo Hiking Shoes - Men's:
My fourh pair but be aware that the true to size fit evaluation depends on the type of hosiery selected. When new this shoe fits and breaks in with "liner" weight socks (aka Brooks Brothers all wool dress socks). After break in Smart Wool socks are best.

Comments about Lowa Renegade II GTX Lo Hiking Shoes - Men's:
1. These shoes took some break in. As the previous commenter mentioned, at first they feel as though they aren't tight when tied. After about 1 month of heavy use they started to really feel great. Now, they are probably the most comfortable pair of shoes I've owned. When they are tied, they are tied. Just took a good break in. Don't expect trail ready experience right out of the box.
2. Waterproof - when they say waterproof they mean it. I've stood in flowing streams (not too deep of course) without any water entering the shoe. They have nice goretex tongue wings that keep the water from creeping in around the tongue. Excellent for wet conditions, snow, mud, three inches of water, etc.
3. Grippy - great grip on wet surfaces. I've owned vibram soled shoes before (pair of Vasques) that were slippery when walking on wet rocks. These shoes have great grip.
4. So far 100 or so miles put on these shoes and the only sign of wear is the dirt that I've been too lazy to brush off.
5. I do wear superfeet insoles due to a very small arch - I find that the green superfeet combined with this shoe has been great support, more so than my old patagonias.
6. They can get a little warm due to goretex - not the best breathers in hot 90+ degree climate, but then in that climate I see little need for waterproofing...
7. um.... comfy.
Love These Shoes - End of story.

Comments about Lowa Renegade II GTX Lo Hiking Shoes - Men's:
I've been a huge fan of these Lowa hiking shoes for ten years and have raved about them to friends for their comfort straight-out-the-box and durability. I've gone through 5 pairs of shoes and 2 pairs of the boots, hiked all over Arches National Park, Canyonlands, Dead Horse, Island in the Sky.
My wife loves her Lowas and thinks this model is better than the old style but for me Lowa made a couple of changes to these new hiking shoes which don't work for me (but this doesn't mean the shoes won't work for you). The metal lace hooks near the ankle are gone and replaced with eyelets which just don't allow me to pull the laces tight enough on my right foot which I need to do to stop my heel from lifting inside the shoe when I'm walking (my right foot is slightly shorter than my left). Anyway, I tried a 5-mile hike (elevation gaine 1000 feet) with the new Lowas and retied the laces 6 times each a little tighter to stop the heel lifting, but my heel continued to move up an down inside the shoes and the top of my right foot became a bit sore during and after the hike.
It looks like Lowa restyled the the top of the shoe and increased the distance between the lace holes. I'm wondering if this increased distance has shifted the tension between the opposing eyelets further down across the top of the foot, rather than just between the eyelets themselves--that's how it appears to me when I compare old and new models.
Cheers!
