The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Rated2out of5bydamonddfromHuge design flaw - top reflector will smash LEDIf you close/collapse this lantern semi-forcibly, with mild force, or briskly, the top reflector that dips down will basically smash the LED. I basically have this lamp by my bedside for emergencies so I don't rough it by any means. I was messing with it the other night and collapsed the lantern quickly and now it no longer works. I bought a second one a while back during a sale which was brand spanking new, in the box, collecting dust in my closet. Took it out, put in some new batteries, and this one didn't even work out of the box! Before this I did notice that the LED bulb protruded up from the housing which I no longer can see after this happened so I can only conclude that you have to be gentle with the top reflector so it doesn't damage the LED bulb.

Rated4out of5bywestfaliafromNice lantern for the moneyI looked at a bunch of lanterns and decided to go with this one. Most bang for your buck. I like the different light modes and features. I bought it to be my new tent light and around camp when i need a little bit of light. Good light output with good run time. I wish it was a little it brighter though. But not bad for the size and price. When i need more light i use my snow peak butane lantern. I will be using it around the house and when I go camping on my motorcycle. Sliding the lens up and down is a bit ackward but i will get use to it. Overall construction feels solid and doesnt feel like it would break.

Rated4out of5byPicturemanfromMuch improved, one drawback. This is a big improvement over the already excellent Apollo. Just as much light output, much smaller device, bottom (flashlight?) remedies the problem of the black hole under every other lantern. Split hanger allows hanging in tent without a biner. Barely larger and heavier than the AAA version. Dimming feature stretches out the batteries. I got 10 timed hours using the lantern only, full power, NiMh batteries.
Changing batteries is a little peculiar, but it seems to work ok. Subjectively it feels a little less robust than the Apollo, but that may be....subjective. The flashlight on the bottom is a huge improvement if you are carrying or hanging it, but lack of legs means it doesn't work quite as well as Apollo if you just set it on the table.
Smaller, weighs less, costs less, and works great. Suggestion: be nice to have an optional reflector for the lantern.

Rated4out of5byChuasfromJust enough bangThe lamp was smaller than I expected, which is a good thing.
The light output is just enough to light a lean to or a small cabin. The first time I took it out me and four others were able to sit in a cabin with this overhead and have dinner and play cards. Throws the light evenly and became clutch when someone lost their keys.
The dual mode is neat, but not really necessary. I would have preferred more lumens or a more robust design. While it's ultra lightweight it does feel a little plasticky, and it doesn't feel like it could stand up to a drizzle.
Perfect for car camping and cabins, but you'll have to baby it if you take it on the trail.

Rated5out of5bysecondislanderfromRugged, Multi-Featured, and PowerfulThis combination camping flashlight and lantern efficiently covered all my needs on a 44 day camping trip to Maui, Hawaii. Especially helpful was the two-pronged clip at the top which hooked in easily to the middle top of the tent. Lit up the entire 4-person tent for a good length of time before it needed to have the batteries replaced. In fact, did this only once during the whole trip. Also invaluable was the flashlight feature at the bottom of the unit which I used on occasion. The dimming feature for the lantern was icing on the cake and the entire unit I found to be of a convenient size and design (collapsible). Really, top-of-the line for recreational use.

Rated5out of5byCamping with friendsfromGreat dual lanternThis is great because you get a lantern when you need it and a flashlight when you need it. This also worked great for hanging over our kitchen set up. Having the lantern and flashlight really helped. We were able to provide light that went out throughout the area (lantern) and have directed light on the stove (flashlight). Works great! Wish they made a bigger one also.

Rated4out of5byAtlantaCrackerfromNice lightWe liked the dual use of the light; We hung it inside the tent as a general lantern but alsp used it as a flashlight.
The hanging hooks on the top are good design, as they don't require any hooks, clips, etc to hang the lantern.
