Comments about Smith Variant Brim Snow Helmet - Women's:
I purchased the white Smith Variant Brim helmet. This is by far the most comfortable ski or snowboarding helmet I have worn. I have spent years feeling annoyed on the ski hill by the fit of uncomfortable, cumbersome helmets. In the past, I wore Giro and a Boeri helmets. Both felt bulky and fit my head like giant cans. It was probably due to the specific styles that I owned, and that they were male-specific. However, even some of the women's helmets I tried on felt the same way. I am so happy that this helmet is so streamlined. I barely notice I am wearing it. I have a smaller, more narrow face, so most helmets seem to dwarf me and push my goggles down on my face. Most helmets obstruct my breathing due to the lack of forehead space. The space on this one allows my goggles to nestle nicely, so I can breathe well and not constantly push my goggles upward. I also appreciate the ventilation that can be turned on and off with a simple lever. We live in a sunny area, so what starts out as a cold day can quickly heat up. The only thing that is prohibitive is the cost. I plan to use this for many years, which compensates for its expense.
