Comments about Nordica Steadfast Skis - Men's - 2012/2013:
Ski: 2012 Steadfast, 186cm, Salomon STH14. Skier: 5'10", 165lbs, Level III. Locale: Alpine Meadows, Sierra-At-Tahoe, Kirkwood. Snow: Broken powder, windblown, sun baked crude, corn, bumps, dust over crust, hardpan. Terrain: Trees, glades, bowls, steeps, chutes, gullies. Got these during REI's end-of-season sale and finally thrown enough "stuff" at them to say I'm very happy with the ski. Coming off damped skis (K2 Modx, Rossi B3 own: Nordica Enforcer, Volkl Mantra demo) the liveliness and rebound of these is smile producing. The large shovel and slight tip rocker allows turns in bumps and rutted crude without getting launched. And the edge hold is as good as advertised for this ski's category. Ski tracks a straight line nicely with the traditional camber under foot. Get it up to speed and surfing corn snow is a blast. The traditional tail gives confidence when a quick turn is needed. Found it easy to skid/smear the ski in tight chute and cliff areas. No powder review but I have a hard time believing they won't be a hoot considering the shovel is 6mm wider than my powder skis (Atomic Snoop). Note: 90mm ski brakes barely fit making it a struggle to get them apart. I'm waiting for 100mm brakes to go on sale.
