Comments about New Balance MT1010 Minimus Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
After wearing out my original Minimus MT10 and a pair of Merrell Trail Gloves, I can say with confidence that these are ALMOST the perfect trail running shoe (for me).
Compared to the MT10, these have a bit more beef to them and a whole lot more tread and traction. My metatarsals and cuneiforms are appreciative of the strike plate which the MT10 lacked.
Compared to a Trail Glove, these fit a bit more snug, which also means they are a bit less "minimal". The Trail Gloves (and the MT10s to an extent) really allowed for the toes to splay out fully. However in the Trail Gloves, the wide toe box always felt like I was wearing clown shoes. These MT1010s are a happy medium for my feet.
People have mentioned a lack of durability over time with these shoes, but after my first few wears, I have a theory! The biggest complaint I saw was that the heel counter was separating from the midsole. I suspect that folks were using the toe of one shoe to wedge off the other and the tread is so aggressive on these things that they could easily tear through the thin mesh. Who knows, just a theory, but something to be aware of.
Anyway, these things are great shoes, my only complaint is one feels slightly tighter than the other. I still haven't figured out why--I'm assuming user error--but until I figure it out, I'm leaving it at 4 stars.

Comments about New Balance MT1010 Minimus Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I bought these to use for trail running in a quest to lose weight and get in better shape. They are very comfortable and the grip excels on trail terrain. They also do well running on the road.
My issue with them is after only a month and a half the mesh support around the front of the shoe is breaking down. Granted I am on the heavy side, but I have never had a pair of shoes break down like this before.

Comments about New Balance MT1010 Minimus Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
Had been running in MT10 exclusively and my metatarsal bones became too sore to walk. I replaced that shoe with Saucony Kinvara 3 for road and this MT1010 for trails. The rock plate makes a huge difference! However, extended running on road with this shoe brings back forefoot pain so I only use for trail runs. I love the grip on trails, especially downhill.

Comments about New Balance MT1010 Minimus Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I liked these shoes, but the outer sole started coming unglued within a month or regular trail use. Right at the back of the heel and then they went downhill quickly from there. Too bad.
To be fair, I used them every other day on hiking trails on Oahu, which can be hot, humid, muddy and rocky. They just didn't stand up like I would have expected for the price.
