Rated4out of5byTrumpet JadefromGood minimalist shoe for winter roadsI bought these shoes so that I could keep running outdoors during the winter. In the summer and indoors, I run in Merrell Dash Glove shoes, which I love. But they have very little traction. I wanted something with a similar feel, but that I could wear comfortably with socks and that had good treads.
Last night it snowed a few inches, and the roads weren't completely cleared when I went for a run this morning. My feet stayed warm, and I safely ran on some icy and snowy roads. I've also found that the Breathos allow for my natural midfoot strike, and are extremely flexible like my Merrells (maybe just a tad stiffer, but they're also more rugged).
I really like these shoes.
The reason I gave them 4 stars is because the treads take some getting used to. I felt like I was wearing those massage sandals, and it took my foot several runs to adapt to the bumpy treads. Now they feel great.

Rated1out of5bysiskioufromNot for high arches/instepFrom reading reviews, these shoes sound wonderful, but I must have really high arches/instep, since I can't even get my foot in without fear of ripping the shoes apart.
I mananged to squeeze in, after taking the insole out, but the shoes are way too tight over the instep.
They are a one piece design (like a water sock), even though it looks like they have a tongue.
Back to searching for a different minimalist shoe.

Rated5out of5byAshley McFarlandfromPerfect!I recently went on a trip to Alaska and was going to bring hiking boots, when I decided to test these ones out instead. They were great! Super lightweight and comfortable. Your toes can spread out as if you're walking barefoot.
Alaska was a wet place and the shoes dry very quickly, so I'm glad I brought them instead of hiking boots. Impressive traction, I didn't even slip on the glaciers. Yes, I wore these on glaciers.
My only complaint is that they feel a half-size too big, even broken in. But with that in mind all-around amazing shoe. Like being barefoot with a bit of protection. Highly recommend!

Rated5out of5byEvergreen MomfromStill love theseI hadn't done a ton of trail running before moving out to Colorado so I was picky about finding shoes that would be comfortable and durable for hiking and running. Our area is chock full of trails so it's definitely the most appealing route to take for running. I've had these for like 8 months and they're still holding up great- through hiking, trail running, every day use. I've run a 5K and 10K and train in these shoes. They're awesome. I also have really flat feet and even though they're so lightweight they must have great arch support somehow because I've never had an discomfort. The shoes hold up really well and aren't showing signs of real wear, but I know for sure I'll get another pair when they do eventually need to be replaced.

Rated5out of5byBrendaBeefromGreat Shoe!I usually run in Vibram FiveFingers, as my stride in those shoes doesn't lead to hip or back pain, like regular running shoes. I've run a LOT in the Vibrams, but for winter trail running in Chicago, I needed something warmer, and with traction. These shoes are nearly perfect. Because they have more cushion than my Vibrams, I have to adjust my stride a bit to prevent my hip from tightening up, but these shoes have the BEST GRIP, i've run on ice, snow, no problem. Enjoy!!

Rated5out of5byChickenHappyfromAt last perfection !Proprioception is what Vivobarefoot shoes are all about - you feel the ground and your foot flexes as you move - as it was meant to ! - it is so wonderful to experience these shoes that you'll not want to wear anything else !( and they do make styles for work, etc) Breatho Trail has a sole with traction built in, so I don't slip on an incline, rocky or wet trail, yet still feel the ground. These shoes give me the best barefoot experience yet - they are a joy to move in. They are durable, and they protect my feet completely (they helped me get to the other side of plantar fasciitis, by allowing my foot full flexibility as I move). I am no spring chicken, but these shoes make me feel like a ninja !
