The Arc'teryx Theta SV bib pants thrive and protect in harsh weather conditions. They are crafted from robust Gore-Tex® Pro Shell fabric for high-performance protection and durability.

Waterproof, windproof and breathable; N80p-X Gore-Tex face fabric offers exceptional durability and full weather protection in a supple, notably soft-to-the-touch textile
Gore micro-grid backer is a thin, low-denier, low-density woven fabric that allows the shell to slide easily over mid layers
Reinforcement fabric is used in the knees, lower legs and seat to protect high-wear areas
Microseam allowances and tiny Gore® seam tape reduce bulk and weight
Low-cut bib with a front fly; rear elastic waist is integrated for comfort and a clean finish
Separating side zippers provide a drop seat option, without the need to remove suspenders
Watertight 3/4-length leg zippers allow quick venting options
Watertight external zippers and zipper garages
Heavy-duty instep patches provide superior protection against damage by boots, crampons and ski edges
Powder cuffs with lace hooks fit easily over boots and can be secured into postion; large pant cuff openings work well with alpine boots
Hems have cord cinches
2 stash pockets on the front bib have laminated zippers
Articulated knees and gusseted crotch enhance mobility and comfort

Overall I have been very pleased with my Arc'teryx Theta SV Bibs, and have considered purchasing a second pair for when the day comes that my first pair needs to be retired.

Activities: I have used these bibs for many mountaineering trips, ice climbing trips, and countless days of skiing.

Fit: I love the fit of the bibs. I am 155 lbs., 5'-9" tall and have a 30" waist, and 30" inseam. I bought a size medium, and have found the fit to be great.

Function: There are many aspects of these bibs that I really like. One of those features are the full length side zips, which I often partially zip down from the top when looking for extra ventilation. The built in gaiters are also
very effective at helping keep snow out.

Waterproofness/breathability: I've tried various types waterproof material, and have not found a product that does a better job keeping the water out while also being breathable than Gore-Tex. The fact that these bibs are made with Gore's most durable and rugged waterproof breathable fabric (Gore-Tex Pro), makes these bibs very capable to withstand the hard ware-and-tear I expose them to.

Durability: I have had these bibs for over 3 years, and they still perform like they did when they were new. Just remember that like any Gore-Tex waterproof fabric, it does need to be maintained properly (i.e. cleaned and treated with DWR).

Construction: Superb, which is consistent with any other Arc'teryx product I've seen or owned.

These are a great pair of bibs that whether it is a bitter cold day of ice climbing, or a warm spring day of skiing, they are my go-to shell.

As a disclaimer, I am a "Gore MountainTech" and test products for Gore.

I received a pair of these bibs a few seasons ago as part of a GORE-TEX product testing program. Since then, I've put them through the ringer, primarily skiing but also using them for hiking in the rain and a few cold-weather river trips.
Overall, I've been very pleased with these pants. I like the bibs for skiing, and the built-in waist band makes it easy to drop the bib part down if I'm skinning or don't need them.
Durability has been good, although I did develop a few small tears in the knees (probably from kneepads and telemarking). The bottom cuff reinforcements have kept ski edges from damaging the material at all.
These pants offer great storm protection - I've stayed dry in pretty horrendous downpours, even when friends up getting soaked. All the zippers seal really well and the bibs offer a bit of extra protection from water dripping down your back. Even the coldest, gustiest winds don't stand a chance.
The weight (or lack thereof) and lack of insulation makes these great for touring, although there are some extra cold days at the resort that I wouldn't mind a thicker/warmer shell. It's not really an issue as long as I plan ahead and layer well.
These are definitely a pair of swishy pants, and people will hear you coming.
I don't love the two pockets - they're a little small for anything large than keys, a phone and maybe a snack bar, and they can be difficult to get at when you have a jacket and pack on.
Fit is slimmer, like much of Arcteryx's line. Great for skiing, skinning and moving around. The full-length leg zips are great for dumping heat and double as pockets for gloves and hats.
All in all, these are great pants. Like all of Arcteryx gear, you'll pay more but you'll get more.

As a member of Gore MountainTechs, I have the opportunity to field test GORE-TEX gear in some of the harshest conditions...and these bibs are amazing. They're lightweight and packable, yet thick enough to stand up to tough abrasion on rock/ice. They articulate well in the knee and hip, but can sometimes bunch up in the crotch when high stepping...just the nature of the beast with bibs. Extremely waterproof, have had no issues. Would recommend layering in very cold conditions, but overall excellent bibs!

I shredded the knees on these pretty quickly for being top shelf pants. I drop the knee most every turn, but still haven't had problems with other pants like this. The customer service was terrible they at first said they would work with me then laughed at me saying i was asking them to make a custom pant. If they had put cuff material on the knee these would be great, but they are ordinary pants at the top shelf.

I have used these pants extensively, from mountaineering trips to Mt. Olympus, to backcountry, multi-day snowshoeing trips in the Cascades. These pants are exceptionally well made. The fit is fitted without being tight, and not baggy. The ProShell holds up like a champ and the full length zippers are a great feature as well as the crotch zipper. Highly recommend. *note: I was given these pants as part of the MountainTechs program. However, even if I was not, I would have written the same review as I truly believe in Arcteryx products.
