The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.
Rated5out of5byCLessliefromGreat pack, perfect size for workI looked at bags for months and finally landed on the Flapjack. The pack is just the right size for my daily work - 12" laptop, iPad, misc. power cords.
The padded laptop sleeve is dense foam and protective. These is a nice zippered pouch one on side of the pad for storing papers.
The flap provides good protection and is generally convenient, except perhaps when retrieving something from under a plane seat. My co-workers are envious.

Rated4out of5byNWlifefromGreat bagI use this bag for my bike/work commute. This bag is light and really comfortable. I am able to pack in spare shoes, work clothes, laptop (good laptop bag) a couple handy bike tools... pretty much anything I might need in a bag. It is a pretty wide bag so everything fits without leaving the bag super bulky and unmanageable. It is very stable when riding, no shifting around and you hardly notice it is there. Handles weather quite well. It is probably the best bike/commute bag I have ever had. I'd give it 5 stars except that I don't really believe anything is perfect. This bag is pretty close though.

Rated5out of5byDreadHead TayTayfromRugged, sporty, outdoorsy, awesomeness!I received this backpack as a gift for my birthday. I had been using my previous backpack since second grade (I'm now a senior in college) before it pooped-out on me. I started using one of those generic JanSports--it just wasn't doing the trick as I commute about seven miles to class on my bike and have been carrying a lot of books while I work on my honors thesis.
This backpack is the PERFECT size for a school-nerd. The shape of the pack, being smaller at the bottom, allows me to pile books, my hammock, workout clothes, etc., in the pack in such a manner that disperses the weight higher up on my shoulders, alleviating the stress on my back. I didn't realize how uncomfortable my old pack was until I got this.
I recently went on a short two night camping/climbing trip. If you're a minimalist, this is the pack for you! I love comfort, yet was able to hike to our camping area with a 60m rope, trad. climbing gear, carabiners, quickdraws, etc., and still stuff a packable sleeping back in the front pockets. The flap over the top was perfect for holding the rope keeping it high on the shoulders. Tent and pad were strapped on the outside and the side pockets (designed almost specifically for Nalgene bottles) held a couple large waters. Food on the outside, front pockets and whisperlite near the top. Awesome awesome awesome!
Overall, AWESOME product. You pay a bit, but so far TOTES worth it!

Rated5out of5byrubinsandwichfromGreat commuter packI have an Osprey Atmos 65 for backpacking and just love their packs, so I decided to check out some of their models for my daily bike commute. Strangely the Flapjack was low on the list when I was shopping online, as the Spin or Momentum looked better, but I was really impressed with the Flapjack when I saw it in the store.
They made some small adjustments to this year's model that addressed a few of the complaints I read online (like a zippered section in the top flap).
I'm a road bike racer, so I wanted something that fit comfortably snug and let me still ride hard on the way to and from work. The Flapjack does this very well. You can jam a good bit of gear in there (my change of clothes, iPad, notebooks, and a hearty lunch), but it does a nice job of holding it steady and best of all when the load is smaller, it compacts down nicely so there's no sloshing around.
There are a ton of compartments and organizational stuff in there too - far more than I had expected. It's a very nice looking bag and one that would actually look good off the bike too.
It doesn't have a rain cover built in (although a separate Osprey hi-vis one works just fine) and some of the other packs have a few more bike-specific goodies like a helmet holder and stuff. However, I didn't particularly need those and the price for the Flapjack was a little easier on the wallet.
I've been using it for 3 weeks straight now and still completely love it. I can't believe I used to ride with a junky backpack before.

Rated5out of5byP FillfromTop of the line, first in showThe Flap Jack Daypack is one of the best packs I have ever purchased. It provides me with everything I need in a backpack for school. Having just purchased a new laptop I needed something that would hold not only my books and supplies, but keep my laptop secure and safe as well.
All of the backpacks I have had throughout high school and elementary school have been quite the let down. There are usually too many pockets, too many zippers, and not enough comfort. This backpack gives you exactly what you need and nothing more, nothing less. Made with only the best materials this pack is guaranteed to last a lifetime, and if not Osprey has their "All Mighty Guarantee" in which they will repair any product with any damage and any defect, regardless of when it was purchased. That's what I call the best of the best of customer service.
Your laptop will be not only safe but also secure in the laptop specific pocket. The bottom of the laptop pocket sits a few inches off the bottom of the pack so when it is dropped, the bottom of your laptop doesn't slam into whatever surface you drop it onto. The only way to access the pack is to unclip two buckles that attach near the bottom of the pack. This provides security to everything in your pack, especially your expensive laptop, giving you peace of mind while you carry your pack and when you set it down.
Comfort is always a priority when it comes to backpacks and the Flap Jack will give you only the best. With the mesh on the straps and the back support your back and shoulders will be well ventilated and pampered with the utmost comfort when worn in heat of the summer. Style is also another thing to consider when buying a backpack because no one likes looking like a turtle with their bulging backpack on the first day of school. The Flap Jack will keep you comfortable and looking sharp.
I believe whole-heartedly that you get what you pay for. In this instance you're paying for comfort, quality, security, five stars in customer service, and nothing more, nothing less than what you need in a backpack.

Rated3out of5byHawk Eye ViewfromAll around travel and Book BagI bought this FlapJack for carry-on travel pack and a book bag for school. I liked the fact my 320z Camelbak fit in side sleeve and my gorilla tripod fits in the inside mesh pocket, it is easy to forget it is there sometimes. My maps fit perfectly in the front pocket flap and the main compartment is a great space to jam my jacket, in addition to a list of other things you might need for the day. I ran with this pack to school which is about 3miles, not my favorite but was able to strap it close to my body. The osprey back vent is of minimal use for keeping your back dry under any strenuous movement. Over all the bag is diverse in its uses and was the perfect choice for my needs. Day hike, school, and traveling.

Rated4out of5byClifton HikerfromLove this packI love the colors and features of this pack! There are a few pockets, but not too many! The flap folds back nicely to allow access to interior. There's an interior pocket for a water bottle, plus one outside, places for pens/pencils, etc. My only complaint is that it's a little long for my 5'3" frame -- perhaps i should have ordered the Flap Jill, if there is one -- instead of snatching this one up from our local store.

Rated4out of5bybeccagrfromRoomy and stylishI use the Flapjack for school and will be using it in Europe this summer. In choosing a bag, it was important that it would have a sufficient amount of room for all my book and anything extra I needed. So far, I have been able to fit everything that i need and more. It is very comfortable too.
There are a few potential downsides to this bag: there are no external cup holders. (I would prefer external, in case something spills.) Also, I would love to have a way to put a lock on it to secure my belongings while it is on my back in Europe, but I haven't figured out a way to do that yet.
I love the way this bag looks and have gotten a lot of complement on it. I'm very happy with it!
