The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.
Rated5out of5byPStriplinfromPleased with PurchaseBought this primarily for travel, especially for the plane. I was looking for a pack that fit well. I'm 5'3" and this pack adjusted nicely with still room if it needed to be tighter. The pack is narrow enough that I avoided bumping passengers in the aisle, but still roomy enough that I was able to pack everything I needed. There are numerous compartments that will fit magazines, iPad, smaller items, food. The two drink compartments on the outside are deep and hold large bottles. The drinks are held securely. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Rated5out of5byTDSanDiegofromPerfect for family tripsI purchased this backpack for our trip to San Francisco last spring. It was perfect for toting water bottles, iPad, snacks, and whatever else we needed for our sightseeing adventure. It has great padding on the back and shoulders and easily adjusts so my husband and I could take turns carrying it. It has pouches on both sides that adjust and tighten around your water bottles so they don't slide out when you bend over. It also dries quickly when it gets wet. It has many compartments and several loops that I have not had the pleasure of using just yet. Overall, a great travel bag.

Rated5out of5bydab630fromGreat multi-purpose badI got this pack to replace a 10+year old EMS brand backpack for daily commuting. It is a very well constructed and thought out pack. The laptop sleve fits my 15" Macbook Pro perfectly and the "document pouch" is great for stowing ipad or kindle (or actual papers, gasp!). The compression straps are great, keeping the pack slim and unoffensive, even on a crowded subway. I am continually amazed at how much room is in this pack. I have easlily used it to carry everything I need for a long weekend trip. I have yet to take it hiking, but I'm sure it would perform well. Having a slit to pass a hydration hose though is a nice touch. I have tested it at home with an osprey bladder, and everything worked nicely. As I believe some other reviewers have noted, the zippers can get caught from time to time, and the extra strap material is a bit dangly after being adjusted. These issues, however, are quite minimal.

Rated5out of5byJean in Burquefromgreat Day PackUsed the pack during my travels in Australia and NZ. Light but lots of compartments for storage. Very versatile and comfortable. No hip strap but the shoulder straps are fine...Kept,my weight down in the pack which made it fine to have minimal hip support. Great pack for both hiking and travel.

Rated4out of5byJDLfromGreat Multi-Purpose PackPerfect, with one exception...
Bought this for my 13 inch laptop for travel and work and to use on day hikes. Have not used it in the woods yet, though I expect no difficulties. Worn on a recent 2 week trip it handled clothes and work related gear and was comfortable with a 25 lb load.
Top handle and shoulder straps are very comfortable with perfect blend of elasticity and support. Back handle is non functional, for the most part. Padding for computer (bladder) compartment is perfect. Storage compartments in general are great. Construct is very solid yet the pack is light. I expect good wear based on use so far.
One problem. The top, outer compartment opening puckers so that zipping it up is a two hand affair. Not major, mind you. It is just so easy to zip all the other compartments that this problem becomes annoying by comparison.
All in all, not a good, but a great pack.

Rated4out of5bymisabelfromSolid backpack!I have used this pack for commuting to work as well as traveling abroad. The fit and customization was great. The organization of storage compartments let me fit any matter camera, travel, laptop, school, clothing gear. The quality is outstanding and the zipper pulls are very ergonomic and efficient. My only dislike is the number of straps that end up dangling once the fit is dialed in.

Rated5out of5byCentral Asia StevefromGreat all around pack!Great for all around uses as Osprey does market this line of packs. Its awesome for commuting, around the office, and the general coming and goings of daily life. I've used it snowshoeing up to Chasm Lake on Longs Peak and it did great, but for long trail runs and other fast accents I'd take a more stream line pack.
Downsides (if you don't use it for these purposes): Designed for a large computer and little wider than I'd like for my 11" macbook air, and small hip belt thats not good for load bearing only for keeping the pack from bouncing but its removable if you don't want it.
Pros: Very Durable, well thought out pockets, compressible so the extra space isn't much of a problem, and very comfortable. It should be a great pack for years to come!

Rated4out of5bybroomtasticfromGreat buy!I got this bag to use on my bike commutes to school as well as day hikes this summer. It says it only fits a 15" laptop, but my 17" laptop fits with no issues. Then I still have room for a textbook or two and workout gear. It's handy, comfortable, and I love the pocket set-up. One side pocket is perfect for carrying my laptop battery while the other is handy for shoving my wallet and other items into.
I've also used this on some short bike trips around the city and am about to take it camping with me in Utah. I love everything about it. My only complaint is that it's not exactly waterproof (nor does it claim to be), and so I was a little worried for my laptop when it started pouring rain on my commute home. It was fine, but I'm still not confident of its ability in heavy rain.
