Rated5out of5byfromThey thought of everything, as usual!Used this for a family trip to Barcelona. The myriad convenience pockets, some of which are cleverly placed so as not to be very visible, are useful for keeping passports/boarding passes/cash handy and secure! Both the main body and the day pack have these secure, accessible pockets. A nice touch and good thinking by Osprey. Haven't used the backpack straps yet, except on the detachable day pack, but they seem to be of the same high quality as on their backpacks. DO NOT expect to fit this in the overhead bin with the day-pack attached and full. Remember, you have a carry-on item AND a personal item allowance. I used the body of the bag as a carry-on item. Once the day pack is removed, it complies to the standard and fits easily in the overheads. I used the day pack portion as my "personal" item, to be easily stowed under the seat during takeoff and landing. It's a perfect size to carry a laptop/tablet (built-in, padded sleeve), charging cords, converters, etc., in-flight snacks, earphones, magazines, guidebooks etc. It also has many smaller, interior pockets to keep these items organized. The wheel system and handle seem very solid. The bag is a bit heavier than my others but, with all of the rugged features, it's still well worth the extra weight. Osprey quality is exceptional. I also own the larger Meridian 28, which I have used for several trips as a checked bag. The quality, and features, of that bag prompted me to get this one. I also own two Osprey backpacks that get very heavy use in the backcountry. The price seems a bit high, but the features, quality, and the Almighty (unconditional) Guarantee seal the deal.

Rated5out of5byfromThis bag is awesome! This bag is awesome. I have travelled far and wide with this bad boy and it hasn't let me down! The sales person at REI recommended it highly and while it was priced considerably higher than the REI branded bag that was similar, I'm glad I went this this one. It is very tough and I have wheeled it down many a desert dirt road, cobble stoned streets, and stuffed into the overhead bin (without the backpack attached) and it hasn't failed me yet. I have seen many lesser wheeled bags crack under the pressure and this one still is going strong. I've used it for a 3 week trip (to a warm climate) and it held all the clothes and goodies I needed while still being small enough to carry onto the plane.

Rated5out of5byfromI've switched to this fully...Phenomenal bag, so much that I've switched to this as my primary bag after traveling for month long backpacking with a 60L Gregory. The combined daypack and main bag are total 60L anyway, but actually way lighter and more comfortable than my serious hiking pack, not to mention the ease of stowing overhead on flight. For me, this is perfect for the trips where you will be either just in cities, or a combo of cities and nature. Obviously, I'll stick with my Gregory for strictly camping and hiking, but that's all I'll use it for from now on - this is my go to bag for week visiting family or a month backpacking between cities and country. Dont let the price keep you away, I found a deal on this for 1/2 price so its out there.

Rated5out of5byfromMoer versatile than you thinkThe Meridian is a little heavier than most carry on luggage and a first sight it seemed like it would not handle my needs for the 3-5 day trips i take for work.. I was wrong... The Meridians main compartment is a bit smaller then most 22 inch carry on's due to the strong frame structure which takes up extra room... I most likely would have passed on this bag had it not been for the young inspired sales person at REI who showed me some of the unique features of this bag.. The Meridian is built to last. The zippers are strong, the removable back pack is not to big and not to small, it fits my 15 inch laptop and its easy to attach and detach to and from the main bag. The main bags has the ability to be wheeled through the airports or carried like a backpack when you go off road... The shoulder/belt harness is surprisingly comfortable and well designed.. I carried it on my back for 3 miles through the Amazon jungle while it was raining, it felt a lot like a regular backpack and it keep my stuff relatively dry.. The best part is you can easily remove the shoulder belt harness and leave it at home if you know it won't be needed.. This is the feature that sold me on this bag.. it opens up another separate compartment in the back of the bag which gives me an extra 10-15% of room.. A few of the little rubber tabs that attach to the zippers have broken but one call to Osprey and they were replaced... five stars for this bag..

Rated5out of5byfromNice, but smallI purchased this bag for an eight day trip to the UK. The quality and thought built into this bag are undeniable, and based upon it's quality and features I have to rate it 5 stars. However, I was surprised at how little it actually holds. A lot of space is taken up by the collapsible handle and the shoulder straps/waist belt, and only by removing the shoulder straps/waist belt was I able to pack the necessary items for the trip. Among the items I ultimately had to leave at home were my laptop and a change of shoes. Oh well. There were no issues with the main bag and detachable backpack being accepted as carry-on, and it was for that convenience that I decided to purchase the 22" Meridian. For short trips this bag is ideal and will serve you well, but for travel beyond three or four days I found that it is just too small.

Rated4out of5byfromPerfect is the enemy of goodThe design may have added too much padding and taken into consideration an exaggerated use as a back pack. That caused the loss of space for carrying stuff. It seems that one starts with an overweigh of straps and cushions that will never be used. It probably makes sense only if you won't be able to roll it and will have to carry on your back for a long time or distance. I've always wanted to be able to attach my day pack to a carry on; that's great! All in one piece.

Rated4out of5byfromBigger on the outside than on the insideI like it, but, unfortunately, airlines seem to think it is too big for carry on. I am picked for gate checking at least 50% of the time, while many others around me seem to have no problem. I know it will fit! It just looks big to the folks at the gate. Since I bought it for carry on, it rather defeats the purpose. While gateside checking is free, it can be a pain and I've been late as a result.

Rated5out of5byfromExcellent bagI've been putting off getting rolling luggage for decades. When I saw the Osprey...I purchased it immediately. A rolling bag, that transforms to a backpack (with the awesome Osprey support system), and has a high quality day pack integrated. All from an excellent manufacturer...what more could I hope for.
