Comments about Osprey Meridian Wheeled Convertible Luggage - 22":

I have an older version of this pack which has a lot of miles and has held up extremely well over the years. It's light and is the perfect all around carry on bag. Packed properly the Meridian is easily good for trips of more than a week.I'm getting the new version which has some nice improved features for my wife. Pricy but worth it. IMHO.

Comments about Osprey Meridian Wheeled Convertible Luggage - 22":

Wow this is a solid pack. I just got back from a Europe trip, including France and Italy.
Let me start with the negatives/ things I would change/ additional features that would make this the ultimate pack.
          1. Compression straps: They do compress well but I would prefer more/wider mesh webbing.
          2. Front clip for day pack: Adding anything of weight in the daypack really increases the stress on your back, when attached to the main pack. It would have been great to have the ability to clip the daypack to the front of the pack, like the Osprey Farpoint 55/75. I just put it on backwards. That worked ok but the straps tended to slide off.
          3. Color: Wish Osprey offered more colors. I got the rusted red because I wanted it to stand out if I checked the bag, which it does. Just not my favorite color and there are only 3 options
          4. Hip belt for day pack: Stuffing 2 jackets, camera, and water into the day pack is probably more than it was designed for, but a small hip belt would have helped my over packing.
As for the positives I'll list a few, but there are too many to list them all.
          1. Solid construction: This is a solid bag. On the way home it was way overstuffed with souvenirs and what not. Zippers worked great and all the materials feel sturdy.
          2. Great wheels: These wheels are some of the smoothest I've seen on any piece of luggage, and I have owned quite a few and travel about 180 days per year. They really smoothed out the cobblestones and other uneven surfaces. Even used them on gravel and stone paths. Amazing
          3. Handles comfort: The handles for carrying like a suitcase are very comfortable
          4. Suspension: Adjustable suspension is great. Both my wife and I can use this as a back pack. It distributes weight very well and is very quick and easy to switch from back pack to wheeled luggage.
While the pack is a bit heavy due to the wheels it's only carry on size and the suspension is more than adequate to keep the weight on your hips. Having the wheels and hard plastic bottom is great when you want to set the pack down when it is wet or raining and know that no water will soak in through the bottom. While this pack is a bit pricey it is worth every penny.

It took some thinking to figure out how to best use the many different pockets. But once I did, I packed a ten day trip to India in it, and had extra room.

Comments about Osprey Meridian Wheeled Convertible Luggage - 22":

That's about all that needs to be said. The removable backpack (which is so seamlessly integrated) with its storage and organization is what makes it truly genius. I most recently had the Ozone and it is light, but that's it. Lots of wasted potential in that bag. With the Meridian you gain much needed space and organization. And for my part, the weight difference is a complete non-issue because you're carrying it on.

There is no airplane that I haven't been able to make this work in. It's sized and designed to fit perfectly in the overhead, even with puddle jumpers you can just unzip the backpack and toss it under the seat. And there's your laptop and other gear at arm's reach--this is also a godsend with the screening process.

It's distinct--never mistake it--stylish and durable. Everything I love in an Osprey experience.

Comments about Osprey Meridian Wheeled Convertible Luggage - 22":

I initially purchased the Switchback 25: it was too large and also it seemed like overkill (heavy badges, such heavy construction it was too unwieldy). I opted for the Meridian 22, and I think it is a great choice. The backpack is much easier to organize, and I found it very useful. It carries quite a lot. The main bag holds its shape, but is relatively soft, so fairly light. The 22 is great because I was able to fly with both backs as carry ons, without checked fees. On a month-long trip to Europe it was the right size, easy to handle through the metro, on trains and buses. Never had a problem putting it overhead. It handled well, though it can be a little tippy--I think the handle is too short for me (5'11") and the handle seemed flimsy initially, although it held up just fine. I had to use the straps once, for about a 1/2 mile hike off pavement...it was doable, but not comfortable. I think this would be the same for any other wheeled bag. The nice feature of the Osprey is that the straps can be detached for trips where you won't need them, and the extra space can hold an extra pair of pants, a couple shirts, perhaps a few books. All in all, I'm very pleased with this bag. In the past, I traveled many times to Europe with a lightweight soft backpack...I decided I had enough of sweating through the subway, and this worked out great! I wouldn't go back to the backpack unless I expected to do some trail hiking. I was concerned I might not have enough space in the mainbag and backpack for purchasing things, so I stuffed in a smaller backpack. I used this third bag around town (the Meridian backpack is a little too big for comfortably toting all day in cities). This worked out perfectly, although I never had to fill the third bag on the return trip.

There are 3 great configurations. I've used it to travel internationally and just around the city. It was so good that I had to get another one for my wife (actually for me since she laid claim to mine).
