I really like these boots for kicking around in cold and/or wet weather. I haven't had a chance to wear them in the snow or deep winter yet, but they are super warm. My only issue is that the soles are incredibly slippery on indoor linoleum. I have slipped several times while walking quickly from the outside to indoors.

I have the hardest time finding boots that fit will, that zip up over my calves (I've got hiker's calves) and that are stylish AND comfortable. These are the most perfect boots that suit all of my needs. I wore them walking all day long and they were more comfortable than my tennis shoes! Totally scored with these boots.

I have tried several boots over the last few years, finally gave in and bought these. I was disappointed with all the other boots I've tried, these, on the other hand are perfect. I guess I must have smaller calves, I have no problem wearing these on top of skinny jeans. The footbed is really comfortable, I have avg to a bit narrow feet. I wear them with medium weight socks. I have had no problems with wear, all the buttons are intact after several months of almost everyday wear. They are light yet warm and have had no waterproof problems on sloppy NW winter days. Hope they last forever!!!! Or Merrell keeps making them!!!

I loved these boots when I first bought them. I am a year-round cycle commuter, and they were boots I could ride in (even in the rain!) and then wear in the office. But I started having zipper problems a few months in and had to return the first pair when the zipper broke and get an exchange pair. The zipper on those lasted a few months, and then I went back to REI when the zipper on both boots had broken. I re-purchased the boots (like a fool!), and within two months the zippers had broken again. When I took them back once more, the REI footwear guy told me they were not for biking, that it stressed the zipper. And that was that: I will continue to wear them until the zippers break again, I guess, but I would not re-purchase them.

I bought these last week, wore them two days, and had three buttons detach. I love the boots otherwise. I returned them to the REI store where I purchased them and exchanged them for a new pair. I checked the buttons very carefully. I hope the button issues with the original ones were just a fluke. If you are thinking of getting a pair, just check the buttons well on the pair you buy, and then keep an eye on them. The boots get lots of compliments and are otherwise great, hence my Yes, I would recommend this to a friend choice.

While many things seemed awesome about this boot (fit well, waterproof, nice look, comfortable), it was all rendered meaningless by the fact that 1/4 of the buttons popped off within two weeks of my purchase, and the zipper broke. I suppose they're good boots if you don't care about the look, since the buttons don't have a functional purpose, but I personally returned them.

I am very picky about my boots and it usually takes me a year or so to find the right pair. I have had a pair of brown boots that I have worn into the ground and loved them except that they were not waterproof so that was a priority in this hunt. I found these online and then went to see them in the store and they were even better than I had expected! I receive compliments on them regularly and most importantly they are rugged, classy, Waterproof and although I have only had them for 2 months, I have worn them 5+ days a week and they are clearly going to last a while!
