Comments about The North Face Windwall 1 Fleece Jacket - Men's:

I can't say enough good things about this jacket. I bought it at the Flagship REI in Seattle in their garage sale, and what I gem did it turn out to be.

It was returned because 'The zipper was too stiff', and after testing it thoroughly I decided that was false. The jacket in general has a certain stiffness to it, which I am quite fond of as it gives it a very defined slim shape. It's a nice enough jacket to match with just about any attire, yet durable when you're in the thick of it.

For my uses, I mostly appreciate it's wind blocking, and some warth (not as warm as a soft fleece). I live in Alaska and we regularly see temps around -20F and this helps take the edge off that bite without a doubt.

One interesting / annoying fact I discovered when i left it in my truck overnight while it was -20F out, was that the jacket became so stiff and unruly I couldnt even fold it up until I brought it in and warmed it up. Not sure what the wind blocking layer is made out of, but it certainly stiffens in severe cold.

Overall this jacket is a winner and I would reccomend it.

Also - It does not withstand roman candles well.

Comments about The North Face Windwall 1 Fleece Jacket - Men's:

A quick throw on jacket when the temps dip below 40 F or when the winds have kicked up causing a chill in the temp. Very comfortable jacket. 2nd one I've purchased for myself. 1st one was bought about 5 or six years ago. Still wear it. Bought one for my wife and she likes hers just as much.

Comments about The North Face Windwall 1 Fleece Jacket - Men's:

I have been a polar-fleece-jacket wearer for years.

As long as the wind is not blowing cold, I find fleece works great for most outdoor work. Grease and oil wash right out of it, and it dries quickly, not to mention it can save your life by managing some insulative value when the rest of your gear is wet from a leaking packpack or surprise winter storm.

So, when I saw the advertisement for the North Face jacket, I thought that the wind-blocking, in combination with some fleece, would finally give me a perfect jacket.

Not soon after first wearing this jacket, however, I found myself missing the warm and cozy feeling of my old lightweight 200-300 polarfleece.

I also pined for the simplicity, packability, and effectiveness of a cheap, coated ripstop nylon windbreaker for the very windy conditions.

The combination of a nylon windbreaker and a light 200-300 weight fleece jacket will cover most any situation, I have discovered. If you have to work underneath a car, for example, in the cold, the nylon jacket will slip-around easily and will not mop dirt like a plain fleece jacket.

For the stiffness and weight of the North Face jacket, I expect more warmth and protection from wind. It just seems cold in the wind.

I do find the jacket is good to wear over a sweater, to protect it from biars or work situations. The beathability is much better that if one were to put a nylon shell over a sweater. It feel like I am zipping on a uniform when I put this jacket on, it holds and protects all my inner garmets, and gives a trim and neat outward appearance.

The cut of the jacket is very good and non-restrictive.

I am not crazy about having the stand-out North Face logo on the front and back of the jacket, so much so that I colored it with a black magic marker.
