The down-filled Isis Whisper down coat is an wonder of lightweight warmth and beautiful function.

Shell fabric is tightly woven to provide a downproof barrier that keeps warmth in and wind out while letting your body breathe
Down is a natural insulator and delivers lofty warmth at minimal weight; down is extremely resilient—scrunch it up, shake it out, and it's ready to keep you warm again
On dark winter days the brightly printed nylon taffeta lining adds a bit of cheer
Durable Water Repellent finish causes water to bead up and roll off, fending off light rain showers and snow
Asymmetric quilting keeps the down in place and avoids the "too-puffy" look
Insulated hood adjusts to prevent the cold from seeping inside
Reverse-coil front zipper with a no-snag draft flap; velvet-lined chin guard is soft next to skin
Elastic cuffs and drawcord hem seals in warmth

I live in Alaska and we've had below 0 for a few weeks.. With the right layering, I didn't feel cold :) Because it was lightweigt, I never felt too hot, which is easy to do when you layer clothes... Overall I love my new purchase, the colors are beautiful and vibrant!! Great color choices, it's exactly what's in right now and I feel beautiful when I wear it ;)

I bought this coat to wear around town in the mountains as well as in Denver. It is super lightweight but keeps me very warm. I had debated if I thought it looked too "puffy," but I have gotten a ridiculous amount of compliments on it from friends who generally do not like this style of coat. The hood is a bit bright, and yes, adds a little extra bulk, but it is such a great functional coat that I don't care. I also love that it comes with a stuff sack to make it easy to pack.

The picture shows the interior of the hood as black for the black coat I ordered. However, it is a very bright blue. I knew the lining was printed and that's fine, but the blue hood is pretty glaring.

The zipper did not lay flat and bubbled unattractively as well. I don't know if that's because it was folded for shipping or if it is not heavy duty enough for the coat.

The coat was lightweight and fit well, so it was a big disappointment. I will be returning it.

The coat arrived a day earlier than expected, so that was nice. Unfortunately the inside of the hood is bright sky blue and it was not like this in the photos online. It's too warm to wear this just yet, but I think it would be just what I wanted if it weren't for the hood. I'd hoped this could be a versatile coat that would match multiple scarves for many seasons, and even be work appropriate, but the hood is just not what I was looking for. Will be bringing it back. Thanks, REI for the best return policy out there.
