The North Face Borealis Daypack is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact Efficient Bag I bought this mainly to replace an old pack I use for school, but figured I could try it for day hikes also since it has the water bladder/laptop storage. I have never used North Face before but hear a lot of good things about them. I have to say this bag doesn't look like it can fit much when you first see it, but it's like the Mary Poppins bag, you can just keep stuffing all kinds of stuff in it! I was able to fit one 2 inch binder plus two other 1 or 1 1/2 inch binders in the main compartment.. and I do feel like I could have added more, probably skinny items in. It's also pretty tall in the main compartment which could come in handy. The second biggest compartment is really deep, I threw my purse in there and could still fit the usual school stuff and necessities. It also is really comfortable on the back, despite being pretty full. I was debating between this pack and the next larger one up but heard that one is too big and doesn't distribute the load/weight as well. I would recommend this, seems like it is really versatile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Backpack Bought for my son's school needs after another brand was returned for quality issues. This backpack has better quality materials and zippers. Well designed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great all around I baught this bag because my old north face Bag of ten years finally bit the dust. I wanted a new every day bag and day pack for weekend hikes. This one fit the need and price. I use it at school work and play. It is well built and comfortable to wear. The only con is I miss my stretchy net on the front this has an aplastic web that is ok to hold a sweatshirt but not a pocket for small stuff. All in all I love this bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfy I received this backpack as a gift and was going to sell it since North Face is a quality brand and these day packs are a bit on the pricey side and I could make a decent buck. Plus the lack of more pockets compared to my current day pack was a bit of a turn off at first. I made the mistake of using it for a day and fell in love with it. Mainly because it can hold my 17" laptop no problem whereas my current pack has to be stretched to the max since it tapers towards the top. I thought the lack of a smaller front compartment and enclosed side compartments would be a deal breaker. For the most part, I can fit the same amount of stuff in the main compartment albeit in a less organized and less convenient access method than having front/side pockets. The two mesh side pockets are deep enough for my water bottle and coffee mug. The bungee netting in front is ok for a small jacket or hat but not my bike helmet despite what the description says. No biggie. I just use the helmet strap around the top handle anyway which does leave the helmet to dangle freely. The hook and hole for a water bladder and hose are nice features. Not sure how comfy I am having a water bladder right next to my lappie, though, so I'll continue to just go water bottle for when I have the lappie. The large front compartment has some decent organization pockets inside and has a decent enough volume. The top smaller pocket is a bit smaller than I'd prefer for easy access items but it's big enough for those items I need easy access to most of the time. The straps are very comfy. The chest and waist straps are great features. I noticed that the bag's height and lack of additional front compartments meant packing the thing with better weight distribution resulting in a much more comfortable "ride" compared to my current pack. All of the buckles and zippers seem to be of decent quality. The fold over zipper flaps are nice for water resistance. Overall, it's a great pack and great value for the price. This is actually my 3rd Northface brand pack. I had a day pack back in the early 90's that lasted forever and an internal frame pack that also lasted forever. I don't see why this pack wouldn't last forever either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rainproof Daypack This pack kept all my stuff dry while in cloud mist and driving rain. It's many pockets and sleeves kept my things well-organized - it kept my maps straight and unwrinkled. The hip strap stowed conveniently out of the way when I didn't need it.
