With an adaptable and versatile design, the REI Triad parka offers 3 levels of protection. Wear shell with the liner, wear only the shell or wear only the liner.

REI Elements®-rated nylon shell is breathable, waterproof and windproof up to 60 mph; lining fabrics wick moisture, add warmth and perfect the fit
Zip-off hood features a brim to shield your eyes and front and back volume adjustments to preserve vision; collar is lined with brushed tricot
Stormflap protects zipper and keeps wind from moving through
Drawcord hem and adjustable cuffs seal in warmth
Shell has 2 zip exterior hand pockets, 2 flap pockets w/snap closures and 2 zip chest pockets; inner zip chest pocket has a cord port
Insulated liner jacket features collar and cuffs with stretch binding, a 1-hand-adjustable drawcord hem, zippered hand and chest pockets and an interior pocket with cord port
Polyfill synthetic insulation stays warm even when damp; Triad liner's back length is 30 in.
Liner is windproof to 45 mph
With the liner jacket zipped into the shell you'll get maximum protection and warmth; or wear either piece separately as weather conditions dictate
Designed to also be snap-in-compatible with the Muir Woods fleece jacket, sold separately

I use this coat almost every day. Very water and wind proof, and very comfortable. Removable liner can be used a stand alone coat and is great when there isn't any rain in the forecast. Highly recommended.

Works great! A lot can be learned by looking at the zipper of a coat - how well it works and how easy it is to get the zipper started. No complaints here. Hood is not insulated but offers good wind protection. I like the pockets with entry for hands along with a flap for storing small items. Snugness around the coat bottom reduces cold air flow. My only suggestion: snaps on the hood could be bigger and snap more durably with the body of the coat. I haven't tested the coat in wet weather yet.

The only rain/snow jacket at REI that was long enough in the arms and covered my rump (6'4" - 245#). Nice for wearing to the office on cold or stormy days at sea level, and fits the bill at the ski resort. Have not been out for extended periods in heavy rain, but it seems fine so far.

I live in Eastern Oregon, and the weather out here is unpredictable at best. I have had bad experiences with 3-in-1 coats in the past, and so was very nervous about buying another one. I'm very glad that I did though. The inside liner is surprisingly warm, so much so that i wear it in anything above freezing.

I love it when traveling too, as I only need one coat to accommodate any weather I may encounter along the way. I am taking a trip to Toronto this November and plan to only use this one coat. Anyone who knows Toronto in November understands what a statement that is (wet, windy, cold, slush, snow, rain or maybe 70 degree sunshine).

Buy it with no concerns, and no regrets!

I have owned this jacket for one year and it has quickly become my favorite. It's warm yet breathable when the temp rises. I live in the Chicago area and I need a warm, wind proof, and waterproof jacket for our winters. This jacket fits the bill and it is cheaper than comparable jackets offered by other brands.
