Comments about PackTowl Ultralite Towel:
I've had several original PackTowls, and was reasonably pleased until my last on disintegrated after less than a year of use. It began to pull apart like wet paper (even though it was dry). I took it back to REI and upgraded to the UL version.
This was a solid decision. I guide coed groups on a variety of trips, and discretion is appreciated. For those who are less comfortable observing changing, the XL version easily fits around the waist for modesty. It is also awesome to have a full sized towel after a swim or bath: it just feels better. And at about 3 oz, it's no skin off my back to have the full sized luxury.
It is definitely thin, though. It doesn't feel like a big fluffy terry-cloth towel. It feels like it shouldn't absorb water, but it will. It dries reasonably quickly. Also, it lauders just fine, but I don't put it in the dryer (even though it says you can w/o softener sheets). I am convinced this led to the demise of my original towel.
In short, it does just as well drying me as the original, but is much smaller and lighter. I can always have a towel with me, and it saves the day. Just keep it a secret or everyone who forgot a towel will want to use it, which is not cool.

Comments about PackTowl Ultralite Towel:
If you buy this pack towel, do not wash it with other clothing as it bleeds ink worse than a pair of new blue jeans. Otherwise, it is a nice lightweight pack towel that will get you dry.

Comments about PackTowl Ultralite Towel:
I have never posted a review, but I was so amazed by this towel, I have to tell someone. I bought it for a trek in Peru because it was a great size and very thin even though I thought it was kind of pricey. I tested it at home and it performed better than I expected. It absorbed all the water off me and still had dry spots! It dried super quick. GREAT TOWEL - and worth the price! I will start using this everywhere-boat, yoga, beach...

Comments about PackTowl Ultralite Towel:
I bought two of the XL towels for my wife and I to use for car camping, day hikes and one/two night backpacking trips. We used them last weekend after swimming in a river. Very absorbent. To dry them out we just held them to the sun and breez for about five minutes.

Comments about PackTowl Ultralite Towel:
Ok I pretty worried about this towel holding up. I have babied it when using it but it's been machined washed 5 times now, used 3 weeks in Africa, 1 test week at home, and now it's coming with me to Thailand for 3 weeks. Dries quick if in the sun. Worth the money, and very small pack size, comes with a case. overall I am very happy with it. Out of the other options is was the softest one.
