I bought this hat in 2010 prior to a month long trip to Africa. I bought a $5 can of silicon water proofing spray and treated it with that ( I treated it again 1/5 yrs later). It has been awesome! It was great for the trip to Africa. Since then, I have worn it in the rain, snow and sun. It's warmer than a lot of mesh hats, but much stronger. I've since used it on another long trip throughout Southeat Asia. Again it performs well. It has been crammed into suitcases and trampled on. It always regains its shape quickly.

The display pics don't do it justice. It looks much better than that. But I do have to say that it doesn't fit in everywhere. It looked out of place on the beach in SoCal, but now that I'm in the Pacific Northwest it fits right at home.

Great hat. Great price

I used the hat when i was on a canoe trip in the BWCAW. I was fishing, canoeing, and hiking. Always in the sun. When not snaped up the hat provides excelent protection from the sun. When it did rain i noticed that the hat had a nice wide rim that covered most of my body.
