Comments about The North Face Verbera Hiker GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
I have had the boots for a couple of weeks now. Started by wearing them around the house thinking I had to break them in. They were comfortable right from the start. Have been on a couple of 2-4 day hikes and I feel like I have been wearing them for a long time. No blisters or anything. Couple of small stream crossing and they have kept my socks dry. So far I love them. Cannot wait to get to the Eastern Sierras this summer with them!

Comments about The North Face Verbera Hiker GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
When I received these boots, I thought they were going to be too big. I have other North Face shoes that are the same size with a more snug fit and thought the same size was going to work for these boots. They turned out to be a little longer than expected. I have been trying them out over the last few weeks and they feel great. I am even thankful for the bit of extra room in the length. Width is great. My feet don't slip or move in the boot. They have been comfortable right out of the box. I have been using them for winter hiking and snowshoeing, and they have been awesome. My feet are dry and comfortable. I am a bit nervous about summer hiking, though. My feet have not been cold in these boots and we have been out in 5 degree weather. I am wondering if my feet may get hot in the summer. The hiking I have been doing is quite steep and is usually a good test to see if I am going to like the boots or shoes that I am in. These have been perfect. In fact, after a good hike up the mountain this morning and some snowshoeing across the top, I wore them to work. I can't say enough good about these. Not sure how they will hold up, but based on my past experience with this brand of shoe these boots will be with me on many a hike.

Went camping with these boots out of the box....I know, I know your suppose to have a break in period but I kept forgetting to break them in. Anyhow, let me say that for the price you cannot beat the comfort, support and durability of these boots. I hiked through puddles, mud and freezing temps (25-35 degrees) and they held up.

I have foot problems and have trouble with boots that are not painful to my feet. I decided to take a chance on these from the reviews & North Face brand - so glad I did! No pain, lightweight and sturdy!

Comments about The North Face Verbera Hiker GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
I've put less than 50 miles on these so far, but at least for that they've been fantastic. This is the first pair of hiking boots I've owned, normally when I went hiking in the past I'd just wear sneakers or basic Timberland boots. However these boots really highlight why special footwear exists.
I've been hiking in the fall/winter, with temperatures in the low 30's and 40's. They've done an excellent job at keeping my feet insulated from the outside temperatures. I won't say they're warm, because they don't heat your feet, but they've kept my feet comfortable enough that I don't even have to think about the temperature of my feet. The only time I've felt coolness from the outside was in the tip of the boot when I was standing around with the toes into ice/snow for solid footing. Even then it was just cool, no cold, but when literally encased in ice, what do you expect?
I have no idea how the'll hold up, but they've kept my feet safely dry through a few inches of snow and across ice cold streams that would make for a very uncomfortable hike back to the car if water got in. Of course what surprised me the most is, unlike with my old Timberlands, when I took my boots off, my socks weren't all wet with sweat, the boots really do breath enough to allow water to escape.
Beyond dealing with the cold/wet, they're very comfortable to walk miles in. They've added some extra angle support when going down some very rocky hills in the Virginia / West Wirginia area, without being so stiff as to be a hindrance.
My only discomfort has been I wear a 10.5/11, and I got a pair of size 11. I wish I'd have gone half a size up as my toes will sometimes hit the front of the boots going down steep terrain. Tighter boots mostly solves the problem, but it is something I wish I wouldn't have taken the bet that 11 would be big enough.
These really were a great bargain, and I wouldn't hesitate to pick up another pair if these are still around when I need my next pair. Although they were on clearance, and mostly unavailable at stores, which makes me think they're on their way out now. Hopefully you can pick up a pair before they're gone!

Comments about The North Face Verbera Hiker GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
Just returned from 50-mile trek in the Andes culminating in visit to Machu Picchu. More than 12,000 verticle feet and a bit more downhill. These boots performed like champs - comfortable, waterproof, sturdy and good looking (for the fashionistas). After only a brief breaking in period, these boots performed at world class level... no blisters, no sore spots whatsoever.
Initially, I was a bit hestitant to buy these boots as the REI salesperson confirmed that North Face had recently switched manufacturers. Yet, the comfort level sold me from the start. The performance level sold me during the trek.
Would I recommend these boots? - emphatically.

Comments about The North Face Verbera Hiker GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
I have been using these boots in Costa Rica for the past 3 months. It is the wet season and for those who know that really does mean wet. My feet have not blistered or come into contact with water a single time while I have worn these boots. Good breathability while still remaining waterproof. The traction is great for trails and anything dirt/mud; however, I have slipped around a little bit on certain types of pavement when the rain really starts to come down. Overall a great boot, good comfort and fairly light relative to other boots I have used. Side comment for those who have been getting blisters, did you have the boots fitted by someone at REI? When I went in the salesperson informed me that other than moisture the most common cause of blisters is people wearing the wrong size boot.

Comments about The North Face Verbera Hiker GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
These took me up a strenuous rocky trail to the top of a mountain in Denali National Park. Great support, waterproof, comfortable with virtually no breaking in.
My heel fits securely in the heel pocket even without the extra padded insole I added. Love the locking hook feature that keeps laces tight on my forefoot and heel while allowing me to adjust the fit on the top. I tighten the top when I need extra support and appreciate being able to loosen it quickly on easier trail sections, essentially transforming my boots to low cuff boots.
Goretex lines the inside up to an inch from the top. My soles held dependably on a wet, rocking fishing boat deck and my feet came home dry at the end of the day.
I wear women's size 11M in all my shoes, and a men's size 9 in ski boots. I was shocked that only a men's 10.5 fit my long feet. Tried on 6 pairs of size 11 women's boots before I finally caved and tried on another half dozen pairs of men's boots. These fit well and are narrow enough to fit my "delicate" tootsies. Love the touch of red on the back.

Comments about The North Face Verbera Hiker GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
This boot is great for casual walking. It is lightweight but durable enough. I don't like the space at the ankle that lets dirt into the shoe even when tied tightly. But this problem is less of a problem for the Verbera than, say, the Merrills that I switched from. I like the ankle support, though.
