The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Merrell Moab Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots - Men's:
These boots performed great. I recently took a back country trip to Algonquin Provincial Park. We paddled and these boots kept my feet dry getting in and out of the boat. We also had long, rocky and muddy portages as well. The boots took every thing I threw at them and kept my feet dry and blister free.

Comments about Merrell Moab Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots - Men's:
I got sized correctly for this boot and loved it in the store, but on the trail I found it was too narrow for my feet (and caused pain across the topside of the ball of my foot). I ended up getting a wider size of a different brand. If this fits you you'll like it (it is otherwise great!), but it was unexpectedly painful for me.

These boots are great. I have had them for just about a year and still going strong. You really need to wear either an extra insole or use the REI wool socks because the bottom of the boot is not very comfortable by itself. At least to me.
Overall a wonderful boot. Great for the money too!

Only Merrill makes Wide boots, and for me, that is a GREAT feature, assuring a very comfortable fit.

Comments about Merrell Moab Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots - Men's:
I'd really like to give a good rating on these shoes, but it seems that they may be poorly engineered. After a lot of online research I settled on these hoping to have a less expensive but reliable mid waterproof boot. Unfortunately, the lace loop at the upper end of the boot broke off after less than 10 wears (only local trips around town to try and break in). didn't even get a chance to try it out on a hike of any kind. really comfortable with good support on the sole, which I need. from the looks of it, the uppermost eyelet which probably sees the most stress when tying the shoe lace, is only held together by some fabric. i have a number of other merrells, which have been fine so far. at these critical points, there are either metal or plastic reinforcements on the eyelet. the waterproofing material (don't know if it works or not) does add to the fit of the shoe, so if you get one, make sure you go up a size or half a size. Looks like this is going back for a return, and most likely will not get a replacement now that I know what to look for.

Comments about Merrell Moab Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots - Men's:
I should have relied on reviews and not advertisement. These are great shoes for dry weather or short hikes where there is time to dry them out. Very light and felt great out of the box. First day 10 miles perfect. Second day drizzle and wet grass and at mile 3 my toe boxes were soaked. Three sock changes for the remaining 12 miles. Still to these shoe's credit no blisters even with wet toes. Merrell should stop advertising they are waterproof. I returned them on that principle.

Comments about Merrell Moab Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots - Men's:
These boots lasted me only a year before one toe cap started coming unglued and chunks of the sole began tearing off. I used them frequently hiking on rugged trails and cross-country terrain in the Cascades. Even with stiffer custom insoles these were not suitable for hiking on rocky trails and talus. There isn't enough support and they aren't made to take that kind of abuse. I liked the light weight and comfort but I can't afford to replace them every year. Need something more durable.

Comments about Merrell Moab Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots - Men's:
I sent the my first pair back to Merrell after getting my feet soaked hiking in about 1 inch of snow. Merrell replaced them under warrentee quickly. The next spring, the replacements were leaking so I had muddy socks after spring hikes.

Comments about Merrell Moab Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots - Men's:
I wear a 10 Wide shoe / boot and it isn't always easy to find one that fits my foot the way I need it to. The Merrel Moab fits me to a "T"! I read another reviewer's comment that they needed a break-in period so I started wearing mine everytime I went out and they are now my favorite footwear. Do they really need a break-in period? Maybe for a serious hiker but for me, I'd say "no". They worked perfectly right out of the box! I honestly haven't been so pleased with a pair of boots in a very, very long time.
I have to add that the REI sales rep at my local store was most knowledgeable and helpful. What a pleasurable experience! Great service and a great product!
