Comments about Patagonia Adze Jacket - Men's:
I went to my nearest REI and tried on the jacket to be sure of details and fit. It was such a great buy combined with store discount and dividend, I couldn't turn it down.
Patagonia lived up to theiir reputation with this jacket and I'm very happy with the quality of materilas, design and construction.
The only quibble I have is that it has long arms and I don't .... but we do have a great seamstress locally and she'll fix that little problem.

Comments about Patagonia Adze Jacket - Men's:
I am 6'3" and thin/ athletic in build with long arms, so I appreciate the long sleeves on my Large Adze. Sleeves are longer than on other shells I have tried but this jacket fits me perfectly. I have not tried it yet in a heavy rain so I can't comment on water shedding, and I have not found it to be particularly warm--it does require insulation and warm layers in cold/ windy weather. It is not so snug in the chest that I can't wear a sweater and even a vest underneath. I do with the inside zip pocket were larger, but the outer hand pockets are huge and comfortably placed. The Adze looks great for around-town walking and casual uses, in addition to hiking. A very handsome, versatile, well made shell. Very pleased!

Comments about Patagonia Adze Jacket - Men's:
This jacket is surprisingly warm. The wind blockage is amazing and it is breathable. With a base layer and a vest for active cold weather it is very warm. Sleeves are just a little long, but you appreciate this in cold weather when you are reaching with hiking poles or scrambling on steep terrain. So it keeps your wrists covered and dry. No space between gloves and arms. Also does a nice job of shedding water in most rain. Not sure it would suffice as downpoor protection, but for light to moderate rain it is great.

Comments about Patagonia Adze Jacket - Men's:
I've been looking for a good looking technical jacket that can double as a sharp jacket when traveling and also use on back country hikes. I was willing to pay twice this price for an Arcteryx Gamma MX, but couldn't find one to check out in person.
I love Patagonia products and the Adze seemed to fill most of my requirements. Looked good and in the store seemed to fit well. I had to order one size up from what was in the store.
While it looks good, the fabric is great, the sleeves are almost two inches longer than normal. The cuffs are too small. To put on the jacket the velcro has to be opened up fully. The sleeve interior is "sticky" when wearing capilene expedition wt layers. Even with the velcro tightened down, it rides over my watch and then there is too much material to be able to pull it back and see my watch.
I may still return it. To wear the jacket, I have to roll the cuffs back. Additionally, the collar has a "zipper garage". It is too stiff and hard and pokes me in the neck. Very irritating.
I could really love this jacket. Everything else is perfect. But, the sleeves in particular make it almost unusable. I've never had a jacket with sleeves this long.

Comments about Patagonia Adze Jacket - Men's:
A good jacket overall for the price. I find it to be a bit boxy around the waist which can allow drafts if you don't cinch it down on windy days. The extra bulk can be annoying on the sharp end of a rope as well. No seamed seals but the DWR is very effective and I experienced no wetting through in a moderate rain shower. Finally, the fabric isn't as breathable as the last soft shell I replaced it with so it can get moist during aerobic activities.

Comments about Patagonia Adze Jacket - Men's:
This jacket is is best used as a fall and spring jacket. Once you start to get temps lower than 30F you will start to feel a little chilly. However if you put a fleece or something else warm underneath it you can probably wear it into the 10-20 temp ranges.
The jacket resists water quite well. I used this jack out snow blowing and was constantly getting covered wet snow. The outside of the jacket was soaked but the inside was still dry. However, I don't think the inside would have stayed dry if there was a pack pressing down on the material. It did dry off in a couple hours though.
The sleeves are also long enough to keep your wrists covered no matter what position your are is in.
My only issue with the jacket is that the collar won't stay flat against the jacket. Behind the zipper, about chest high, is a fabric guard to keep anything from coming through the zipper. However, this guard prevents the collar of the jacket from laying down.
Summary: A great jacket for windy cool weather where you won't see anything more than mist to intermittent rain.

Comments about Patagonia Adze Jacket - Men's:
I got this jacket for a trip to Colorado to climb 14ers, and I was not disappointed. It blocked the wind at 14,000 feet quite well (40-50 mph in one case), then breathed well when we ducked behind a rock. The material is a bit stiff at first, but softens up after a bit. This jacket also kept me dry during the inevitable July thunderstorm on my way down from a peak. I wouldn't mind another chest pocket, but it's a good jacket. I haven't tried this yet, but I can also see it being a great ski jacket. One note on sizing: I have long arms, so this and many other Patagonia products fit well for me, but if you don't have another Patagonia jacket that fits, I would recommend going into a store to try this on. It fits just like other Patagonia jackets.

This is a great jacket, though I wish it had another inner breast pocket to stow a few more small items. This jacket also tend to get very hot, and doesn't exhaust well.
