The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.
by rocratfromFlexible but boxyA good jacket overall for the price. I find it to be a bit boxy around the waist which can allow drafts if you don't cinch it down on windy days. The extra bulk can be annoying on the sharp end of a rope as well. No seamed seals but the DWR is very effective and I experienced no wetting through in a moderate rain shower. Finally, the fabric isn't as breathable as the last soft shell I replaced it with so it can get moist during aerobic activities.

by tmjgamefromGreat NW jacketI use this jacket for around-town and everday wear during the wet and cool seasons here in the Pacific NW. A practical jacket that looks as good as it is weatherproof. A bit heavy for my adventures into the outdoors. Found it on sale and snapped it up. Sleeves have velcro stays which make adjustments easy. Fit is abit large on top but I wear this jacket over a mid-weight tech top or athletic sweat=top. A bit snug at the waist to keep breezes out.

by DarekfromGreat JacketThis is a great jacket, though I wish it had another inner breast pocket to stow a few more small items. This jacket also tend to get very hot, and doesn't exhaust well.

by person2fromPerfect spring jacket! This jacket is perfect!
I have given up on traditional fleeces. It seems like there was about a 2-degree temperature range in which I could wear one. Either the wind made me cold or I was too warm and suffocating.
So, I thought I’d give the Adze a try.
I’m glad I did! This jacket is perfect! It totally blocks the wind. And it breathes way better than a traditional fleece. So I can wear this jacket over a huge range of temperatures and remain comfy. For extra cold days, I stick my Patagonia down sweater vest under it. The combination gets me down to the high 30’s, commuting in Washington, DC. The jacket Adze alone gets me from about low 40’s on up, though I am a bit chilly at the lower end of that range.
I actually love the sleeve length. My dress shirt size is 15.5 X 34, to give you a sense of my size. I was also sick of many traditional fleeces not covering my wrists. The Azde’s length in the sleeves is great. It covers my wrist and a tad bit of my hands -- and covers my wrists even if I have to reach. I also like the length on the torso; the Adze covers my belt without being so long to feel like a poncho.
I wish I had discovered this jacket a long time ago, because it is really the nicest spring jacket I have had in a long time.

by J-SaucefromSolid jacketI got this jacket for a trip to Colorado to climb 14ers, and I was not disappointed. It blocked the wind at 14,000 feet quite well (40-50 mph in one case), then breathed well when we ducked behind a rock. The material is a bit stiff at first, but softens up after a bit. This jacket also kept me dry during the inevitable July thunderstorm on my way down from a peak. I wouldn't mind another chest pocket, but it's a good jacket. I haven't tried this yet, but I can also see it being a great ski jacket. One note on sizing: I have long arms, so this and many other Patagonia products fit well for me, but if you don't have another Patagonia jacket that fits, I would recommend going into a store to try this on. It fits just like other Patagonia jackets.

by A7DavefromWell constructed, but design has flawsI've been looking for a good looking technical jacket that can double as a sharp jacket when traveling and also use on back country hikes. I was willing to pay twice this price for an Arcteryx Gamma MX, but couldn't find one to check out in person.
I love Patagonia products and the Adze seemed to fill most of my requirements. Looked good and in the store seemed to fit well. I had to order one size up from what was in the store.
While it looks good, the fabric is great, the sleeves are almost two inches longer than normal. The cuffs are too small. To put on the jacket the velcro has to be opened up fully. The sleeve interior is "sticky" when wearing capilene expedition wt layers. Even with the velcro tightened down, it rides over my watch and then there is too much material to be able to pull it back and see my watch.
I may still return it. To wear the jacket, I have to roll the cuffs back. Additionally, the collar has a "zipper garage". It is too stiff and hard and pokes me in the neck. Very irritating.
I could really love this jacket. Everything else is perfect. But, the sleeves in particular make it almost unusable. I've never had a jacket with sleeves this long.

by Robert57fromAttractive, versatile shell-love it!I am 6'3" and thin/ athletic in build with long arms, so I appreciate the long sleeves on my Large Adze. Sleeves are longer than on other shells I have tried but this jacket fits me perfectly. I have not tried it yet in a heavy rain so I can't comment on water shedding, and I have not found it to be particularly warm--it does require insulation and warm layers in cold/ windy weather. It is not so snug in the chest that I can't wear a sweater and even a vest underneath. I do with the inside zip pocket were larger, but the outer hand pockets are huge and comfortably placed. The Adze looks great for around-town walking and casual uses, in addition to hiking. A very handsome, versatile, well made shell. Very pleased!
