The fit here is, well, a bit fitted. So the canned choice of "poor-fit" above is not exactly right, however . . . :

If you plan to layer under these simple rain pants, you may want to take that into consideration. If you are planning on these being your all-day outer layer with a base layer (as opposed to putting these on over hiking pants or cargo shorts), you'll probably be OK. Also, since the pants have minimal features, there's no trap-door for winter use and getting them on or off over cramp-ons could be interesting. Otherwise, the eVent is pretty trick stuff and the light weight and "single layer" construction without any mesh lining is great. So, with the foregoing qualifications, recommeded.

Have used REI eVent jackets for a couple of years now. I have found eVent to be waterproof, and as breathable as softshell fabric. I purchased these "rain" pants to use over synthetic tights as my go-to wind/rain pants where versatility & packability are needed. I first used them for an afternoon of downhill skiing during a wet rain/snow drizzle. Although it felt like I was sitting in a cold puddle every time I rode the ski lift, the seat of my base layer was dry when I got home. The pants also provided good wind protection. I am 5'-11" and weigh 190 lbs. The large size fits me very well. I did sew in some suspender loops for pairing with a pair of OR suspenders. This worked very well and would be a good feature for REI to consider adding.
